Elitist's Need Only Apply
If you're not the 1%, get lost. D2 Elitist's that managed to complete Salvation's Edge (30 hours for some) are declaring it as the best raid ever. But seriously, it's not like they are going to say it's gotten too hard - tone it back.

I mean, just watching it I'm like, Yeah, nahhh.. I'll never do that. It doesn't even look fun. Not to mention the time investment is unrealistic for many.

Just think.

Bungie has not released the challenge modes for any of the encounter yet either.

tell me you don't know Destiny raid launch history , Last Wish was the ONLY raid released from ALL destiny raids that went past 18 hours , with Vault off glass (D1) taking 14 and all the rest was below 8 hrs on release day.

it's not about getting "gud"

It is what it is.

I ain't fussed about some contest mode nonsense, when the raid is playable normally and you can still get all the loot, it's whatever.

Coming from a WoW background, I'm surprised people are finding this to be long and harduous.

WoW race to world first lasts usually more than a week, with reclear or push being a big question for week 2 resets, and requires usually 2 weeks of prep-time before the race, with split runs to funnel gear drops.

So raid opening on Friday and then being cleared in the wee hours of Saturday morning is like "This it ?".

Bro, this is the whole point of contest mode. It's for the top raid players, that's why it's called contest mode. This is the hardest version of the top end game content, it's supposed to be hard. There is uncountable things to do in this game that are for causal play, go do one of those things if you don't like challenge.

This isn't WoW though, and it isn't trying to be. Hell this is a completely different genre of videogame.

I think you misunderstood the premise of my post so I will explain. Elitist players are never going to say it's gotten too hard, so their only recourse is to say it's the best version ever further raising the bar but eventually only for the super elitists. Elitist isn't what it was way back in D1 when raids were brain dead easy, get it?
Bobermeister Jun 10, 2024 @ 6:31pm
The day 1 raids are made for the top 1% let us atleast have something, come on.

Sure, if you want to support elitist 1% behavior. The majority however might disagree.

The very fact that it was finished proves that it isn't too hard. If there comes a time that 0 people finish then you might have a point. Contest mode isn't indicative of how the raid will play out in normal mode. Again, there is plenty of content for casual play, stop trying to nerf the small percentage of challenging content in the game.

In the 2 days since Contest Mode has ended there are approaching 7,000 clears with the average clear time being around the 5 hour mark and that time is only going to go down as people get used to the new raid and work out the optimum strategies. Hell, one fireteam has already done a sub-1 hour run.

Yeah, that's my point. Peeps saying the "raid is hard" probably never wiped 600 times on Mythic KJ in ToS.
Jagdtiger Jun 10, 2024 @ 10:25pm
I was in there for 40 hours, and made it all the way to witness 2nd damage, but never got the clear. It's not about being the best, it's about overcoming an insurmountable challenge. It's about taking on something you can't do, and persisting until it's something you can do. I saw remarkable tenacity from the community, with many groups still hacking away at encounters 2-4 with only a few hours left on the clock. There was no hope for them to clear, but they remained to attempt to overcome a challenge that had so far bested them.
