Stuck at Rank 6?
Two of my missions to complete Rank 6 says: "Seasonal Challenges" and the other "Seasonal Artifact Perks" both requires doing missions and stuff in this last update area, but when I go there there's nothing to do, I talk to Ghost and I can only do a quest that I need to purchase... So... How can I do those things for free? And since I can't, how can I increase to Rank 6?

Guardian Ranks is 'intended' to show your aptitude with current content, so it is basically inaccessible on f2p because the requirements will ask for campaign completion, seasonal and recent raid/dungeon content, etc. Just ignore it.

So... I'm stuck at Rank 6 unless I PAY?

Pretty much. Advancing through the Guardian Ranks essentially requires you to own at least the most recent expansion I believe, as I know for a fact one of the required objectives is to finish the Final Shape campaign, which can only be done if you own Final Shape.

So... That's it, I have no purpose in playing this game anymore. The only reason I have to play this game is to reach max Rank, but since is money grab, I won't.

To be fair, I'm just playing it while waiting for The First Descendant.

Yeah. What's so special about Rank 6 anyway? Or the Guardian Ranks in general?

Guardian Ranks are mostly just there to give an idea of how experienced someone is, but only vaguely so. For example, one of the required objectives to go up to Rank 8 is to do a raid, so people who have no interest in that aspect of the game will never go higher than Guardian Rank 7. Doesn't matter if you do Master or Grandmaster Nightfalls, or if you've done solo Dungeons, if you don't do raids you are never getting higher than GR7.

I know what they ARE, lol, I get all that.

I've just never seen anyone be that...crushed to learn that this particular, vague and pretty much irrelevant aspect, is dependant on paid content. So it was more of a direct question to OP on why it was so special.

Well, this time there are again 2 loadout slots to be gained at rank 7 I think. Other than those I see not much of a meaning though there is a category in D2 fireteam finder "Min Guardian Rank" included. Some ask for 8 or above, many do not.

Anyway, rank 6 can be achieved through seasonal challenges that come out next week if there are no other DLC related tasks which I haven't think to have seen.

Ahhh ok loadout slots, I forgot about those since you don't need to re-unlock them.

I never played Destiny 2 before, never interested me until I played The First Descendant Open Beta which is 60% Warframe (a game that I did 100% of it before stopping to allow more content to gather) and 40% Destiny 2. I already know everything about Warframe, so I gave Destiny 2 a chance because, learning about Destiny 2 would give me idea how to play The First Descendant.

Right now I have 31 hours of Destiny 2 and it's more than enough to see the game is boring and without purpose. There's nothing to do but reaching max level in the game, like reaching Rank 11, reaching GS 2k, and stuff like that... It's confusing as hell, even worse than Warframe, and Warframe is a game with 0 intuitiveness, but eventually I made my way around to understand how a few things work.

The reason I'm playing the game is to learn about it so I have a head start in The First Descendant, but knowing no one would ever reach 100% of the game without paying is just sad. It's even more sad when your game have pathetic people defending such sad actions.

So... Since I can't do the only purpose of the game, there's no purpose to play the game, this is simply to understand. Tomorrow the developers of The First Descendant will announce something in Summer Game Fest (together with a lot of developers that I follow and play their game), so maybe they'll announce the release date.

Anyways, if you like the game, it's fine for me, I don't care, you can have fun playing it. I'm not a stupid person who create imaginary rules and definitions to say if you should or shouldn't play the game, even if there's no purpose for me.

By the way, the price for the DLC is so stupid that is a whole minimum wage, so talking about "brokeboi" isn't the case, the company is greedy:

I asked and you answered, fair enough.
I hope The First Descendant gives you all the purpose you desire!
(Does look pretty cool!)

While I do agree that Bungie, the company in question, is greedy. I will say that you do not need the Silver Packages or Bundles, as most are cosmetic and trivial at best.

Also, the above image you posted is old, they recently condensed down the DLC's into a single pack (Destiny 2 Legacy Collection 2024) which includes everything up to Lightfall.

Either way, I hope you have fun with First Descendant.

There's something that I hate in both Destiny 2 and The First Descendant. The system of "this weapon is too strong, let's make it unusable by lack of ammo" thing. In Destiny 2 this isn't an issue because you have no progression with the weapon type, but in The First Descendant you have the same thing as Warframe that you level up a weapon type to max rank, doing that with weapons you can barely use because of the lack of ammo is painful.

But, my experience playing the Open Beta, I had fun, more fun than Destiny 2, I'll try and see how far I can keep having fun, maybe I do 100% like Warframe.

Wrong. Utterly wrong. I've carried lots of rank 10/11 in various activities and they're entirely useless. Of course not everyone, but a good portion of them are. Very simply a lot of people just get to those high ranks by playing raids/dungeons with others and getting carried there as well. It has nothing to do with experience.
It's the same thing with exotics, recent outbreak perfected is a good example of that. You could have done nothing to gain it and no perks, and just join someone who did who also kill the boss for you. Guardian ranks is very simply marketing, and thats it.
