Why do people pretend "The Final Shape" is an "off ramp" and you'll stop playing afterwards?
Destiny is made to be addictive, if you're still playing this game after many years (10 for some like myself) why do you lie?

We will be playing this game, and buying every DLC until the servers shut down.

Destiny is the only game worth playing.

Gameplay is what separates this game. It's simply the best FPS gameplay on the market. Nothing gives you that "power fantasy" feeling like popping your super and clearing entire rooms or watching bosses melt.

Long as the loot is good and the gameplay top notch, a lot of people will always be around.

The gameplay loop is good, but the constant decisions Bungie makes have been ramping up to a whole negative. Unless Final Shape is a huge 'WOW!", it's going to be the end of the destiny saga for a number of people, myself included.

I got in playing in Forsaken, and have seen nothing but decline since Shadowkeep. The politics in Bungie, microtransactions, constant splitting of content into sub-purchases like Dungeon keys. Quality has been declining severely, but monetization has been ramping up. Not to mention a lot of content has been feeling like it was just recycled mechanics with a minor change.... We are getting Less but paying More as a whole lately.

It's even driven me back into playing more Warframe lately, just because I find it to be a more balanced game, where I can have more control over how I play it.

im just gonna say it even tho yes what we usually get from the dlcs are majority of the time lack in content or even story wise it doesn't change the fact that people will always play the game you might say your done playing but you cant really go and assume others will agree since majority of its player base is split into categories some play for the game play and content others for the story and some might even play just because they feel like it, its different opinions from everyone some might go and defend this game like their lives depends on it and others will trash on this game for not meeting their expectations it goes for every game created there wont and will never be a game created for everyone its just how life is and destiny 2 is no different
same people that think dawntrail will be the finale of FFXIV just because it is the ending of the current storyline, it just means a new storyline will start up not that the entire game is ending

I played D1 at launch, it was a huge let down. Things were improved over time, we get to Taken King and and it's finally in a good spot. Addiction is an understatement, any excuse to drop another game to play Destiny back then.

My friend group for it disbands, I stopped playing as much, then D2 came out and I skipped the early days (thankfully) and came back for Witch Queen.

Witch Queen was phenomenal and I joined later on in the year, for Season of Plunder. I loved every minute of it.

Then Lightfall launched and it was absolute dog-water in comparison to WQ, we'd traded the tone and ambience / feel of Destiny 1 with WQ, to Marvel quips and training montages where you get all tired and sleepy in Lightfall. The disconnect between the two, from writing, tone, atmosphere, feel was nuts and Nimbus absolutely sucks as a character.

The expansion was that bad, I ended up quitting again.

Final Shape ends up being bad? I'll quit again. Easy to remove myself from something where, even if the gameplay / gunplay is good, Sunken Cost Fallacy doesn't kick in like it probably does for a lot in this community.

While no one in my clan is planning on quitting the game most of us have agreed that we will be taking a break after the new raid + epilogue mission are done as we know for a fact by the time next Tuesday's reset rolls around we are going to be burned out and desperate to do anything else than look at Destiny. lol

Destiny is literally the top seller in the world on steam and it's playercount has been in the top 20 since it launched.

D2 isn't going anywhere. Gameplay is king and destiny > all other FPS titles

No, it is not. Despite what you might thing. It has a free to play entry, which a lot of people do to go and try the game (and A LOT of them will quit after being flooded by all the "Buy access to this now").
The free to play entry, counting as a purchase, will then also attract all the bots (and trust me, there are a lot of them for Crucible and the like). So those numbers are unreliable, especially since a lot of people came in recently for the extra free content that was on offer to everyone.

Final Shape is hyped up and a lot of people are buying it, sure, but comparing it to something like Final Fantasy isn't fair. FF Franchise doesn't constantly make one bad decision that divides the player base, after another. FF Franchise doesn't elicit a "They did what with MTX again?".

So I'll restate this again. Final Shape is going to stabilize or break D2, and no amount of fan-boying is going to change what has been an ongoing, growing, dis-taste for what Bungie has been doing as a company.

Destiny 2 is the best worst game I've ever played. 2k hours, I regularly go 12 months without playing, but I keep coming back every expansion.

Problem now is, we dont know whats coming next year. This could well be a jumping off point for a lot of players, specially when there are so many other games vying for our time.

The combat loop in this game IS fantastic, but if you lack a regular fireteam you miss out on the best content.

All games are made to be addictive. No single game can have enough content to prevent burnout.

Go play Warframe boys.
Much more player friendly devs and just as good content, also a better power fantasy since they don't nerf things with poor excuses.

Cross-progression yet?

If so, I'd love to pull my PSN profile over as I put a lot of time into it.

Yes actually!
They started out in waves earlier this year for specific players to make sure everything was working.
I haven't kept up to date on it, but you should be able to now (there's probably a guide on there official website for it).
