I think the 150-300 GB update is mostly for those who have to reinstall the entire game from scratch, either that or there's probably more to come regardng updates before the launch of final shape.

The 150GB is for people installing from scratch.
300GB for people who preload and have it already installed.

But it seems that they fixed this ♥♥♥♥ and instead let us preload only the delta now.

I'm not sure of course, but I think an update like this requires a bit more tinkering than usual, as it overhauls several things. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more updates to come, maybe right away, or gradually as more content will become available. It is nice we can already update IMO, and not have to install 150 GB on release.

possible that 150gb include all language file, steamdb shows that destiny 2 has multiple language pack each size has 1.7gb per language
