Bungie have been hinting at novels or something like that for a while now. Hopefully they do that. I'd like to read some proper books about things that happen in the universe.

The timeline section in the game itself does a pretty good job of telling you the major beats of the in-game story, but it's basically a tl:dr of the things players did in Destiny 1 and 2. It doesn't really go into things like the significance of who the Drifter is or why people like Shaxx keep talking about Mara's bodyguard who died like a hundred years before the game starts.
