Extreme Performance Issues
Destiny 2 randomly drops to under 30 FPS, with GPU usage at 100%, and is unchanged at lower settings.
Specs: RTX 3050, I5-13450HX, 16GB Ram. Normally runs at a solid 120 FPS at 1080P, medium settings. CPU and GPU temperatures are low. Not a overheating issue.

I've Tried:
Setting all power plan settings to favor performance
Setting the Nvidia graphics card as the main Graphics card
forcing destiny 2 itself to use the Nvidia GPU
Re-installing Destiny 2
Factory resetting the PC.

well if you factory reseted your pc make sure all your drivers are in. inc BIOS, motherboard drivers and all other drivers to GPU. CPU. make sure you have XMP on so your ram speed is correct.

Also do you use a SSD?

No, I don't think so, they are severely lacking in VRAM. I have seen this game running fine on some fairly low-end hardware though.

Yes, although that doesn't relate too much to the actual issue.

Try this for starters.

Remove the Cvar and Cvar old located in

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs

Then verify your files in steam. Your settings should reset to default now aswell,so keep that in mind.

------------------------------
You can also clear DirectX cache and Nvidia Shader cache and Steam shader cache.

To remove DirectX cache. Use Windows "Run" And type in "Disk cleanup',pick the top one showing. In the new screen select everything besides "Download folder". Make sure you select "DirectX shader Cache".

-------------------------------
To remove Steam shadercache go to

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\shadercache" and empty the folder.

-------------------------------
To remove Nvidia shader cache files. first open Nvidia control panel and Disable shader cache. Reboot your pc. Then go to

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache"

And delete everything in that folder. Now open up Nvidia control panel again and enable Shader cache. Reboot your pc.

Will do.

Yes. Usually after in a session (say a raid or dungeon), for 10 minutes. or when moving the laptop from location to location, and it remains at 30FPS until Destiny 2, or the PC itself is restarted.

If your framerate drops from moving the console, I'm thinking you might have a stick of ram or storage drive connector that's not seated properly. Or perhaps you moved the laptop to a spot with poor air circulation causing the cpu or gpu to thermal throttle. It isn't normal to lose fps because you moved the laptop, that's a sign of something malfunctioning.

I am pretty sure that is the issue. I will make sure everything is connected properly (inside the laptop).

interesting, so when moving the laptop (after say having been in a nightfall/raid/any other activity for around 5+ minutes), the fps drops to 20, and the GPU usuage jumps to 100%. Only thing i could think of is that the gpu isnt properly connected, or is lose.

Have you installed the latest drivers?

Or it switches to the IGPU, is there a key combination that can do that, long time since I had a laptop.

Yes, the latest drivers are installed. I don't think there is any key combination that does that, although it definitely could be possible.

What I was trying to get at is there are laptops that will change to the IGPU when you unplug the charger to save energy. I expect that that might be something in the power setting. I was just wondering if there was a key combo to force a switch. I am really not much up on laptops, haven't much used them since like 2000 when I used one to upload router configs, just haven't needed one.

major optimisation issues with last update anyone here needs to look directly at the prismatic "light" crack effects on the ground or the vex ground "milk" effects in this recent act 1 gamemode and my fps goes from 160 to 50 when i stare at them and when i look away my fps is fine.

That's not happening for me.

I did had one hard lock up where I had to reboot my pc,never happend before in all these years.
And I notice when I alt-tab,often I cant alt tab back in the game anymore, eventhough it didnt crash and the sound continues playing in the background. Other than that my fps seems solid.

Shot in the dark, but you might try alt tabing to where it says you have it selected, and then do and alt enter.

I will try that.

same happens to me and the gui turns to molasses.
restart fixies it mostly.
but mostly i think bungie re-engineered for final shape which has been a disaster.
