New player advice
I just started making myself get into D2 for the first time. I tried once before but got way too overwhelmed by the menus and lack of tutorial, Now I have finally gotten kinda comfortable with the basics of navigating the game. My question for you destiny players is, if I'm going to buy dlc, what should I buy and when? I tend to avoid spending full price for anything ever. And I don't mind waiting for deals to pop up. Theres just so many dlc that I don't know where to start looking

I'd just wait until they release d3 or something. It's an mtx hellscape where they find more and more stuff to sell individually each season. (like dungeons now lol).

You either buy the dlc if you want a story, or you want a really broken gun, or if you want to farm a raid over and over.

Can just see the story on youtube if thats all you're after.

destiny is a pretty good game, played everything since the beta of the first game, that being said if I could take it all back and spend my money and time on other things I would. That's just me, in the end it led to pretty much nothing and the story is 10 hours of non bungiee community made youtube videos. This was my biggest sunken-loss in gaming, but foresaken and witch queen had their moments/months.

In this case, is it still worth playing for just the gameplay and side objectives? I dont care for the pvp yet but the gameplay itself is very fun on its own.

I just got back to playing myself. I'm still not sure if I should buy the latest expansion. I wanted to wait for D3 before playing again (a new graphics engine would be amazing) but got bored with the other games I am playing atm. Welcome back.

only buy stuff on sale at 70-100%,preferrably more in one dlc packs, discounts. It seems to me the only ones paying full price are raid players playing the game since it came out. Then you get more out of the content, but you will not if you don't fit that category. The game is filled with content that you need to have done to have this and that. So paying full price for new players makes no sense whatsoever.
