do defiant keys still drop?

i am now on the quesstep for "opening a chest with a defiant key after a defiant battleground", and no matter how many crucibles, gambits or strikes i have run, not a single key has dropped so far. i do have the legacy artifact thingy that says the keys will drop from certain activities. but so far, not a single one dropped anywhere.

(disclaimer, never owned the season, but now since its free i wanted to give it a try)
same applies to the season of the deep keys, not one dropped so far.

i do have all my witch and lair keys, those seem to be the only ones dropping.

I think you gotta talk to the HELM and talk with the war table and get the artifact in order for them to drop

they don't come from Crucible, Gambit or Strikes... they are from the Battlegrounds playlist on the Helm... Same for Deep keys... you have to do dives launched from the Helm.

to be clear, i do have all three legacy artifacts and the current one (obvs) in my questtab, and each one says that keys can be obtained by strikes, gambit, crucible, and other activities.

but i will focus on only doing defiant battlegrounds and salvage today to see if i get lucky.

It says in the description Defiant keys can be found by completing activities throughout the system. Besides you need Legacy: Ascedant Scepter seasonal heirloom in continuing to collect Defiant keys and Defiant engrams by completing Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, or other activities
