If you wanna be helpful for a team top tree Sentinel aka Bubble is definitely the way to go

u don't really "pick" a subclass. you play the m all. it's not an RPG.

play whatever u guns fit/raid group need

My go to builds:-

Ad clear a.k.a the one man army builds-

1. Middle tree arc with Insurmountable skullfort exotic helmet. Apply 2 "hands on" mods in your arc affinity mark and keep chaining charged mellee kills. Instant super. Rinse and repeat.
Note- keep some Grenade launchers or shotguns equipped to deal with majors.

2. Bottom tree solar with Hallowheart fire exotic chest. For faster grenades, melee and sunspots, keep your super charged and DO NOT use it. Having your super charged reduces cool down of grenades drastically in sunspots. For extra ad clear, you can equip grenade launchers too.
And since you have low cool down on your grenade, run a thermite with high discipline stats on your armor. Apply "enhanced ashes to assest" and "ashes to assets" for quick super charge up with thermite grenade kills.
Note- only use your super at final encounters.

Now, for the tactical builds a.k.a look ma! I'm helping! :-

1. Top tree void/bubble with helm of saint-14 exotic helmet. This is more of a neutral build that comes in handy in strikes and sometimes RAIDS as well. Use whatever weapon combination you are comfortable with but make sure you have decent intellect stats on your armor. You need the bubble up at every major encounter of any activity you are playing.

2. (I came up with this build myself :D )Top tree void again but this time you use citan's ramparts exotic shoulder pads. You will need your stat distribution to be maxed out on resilience and intellect, which isn't easy to pull off with destiny 2's RNG but it's possible, so try your luck. Max resilience coz you want your barricade to be active as much as possible. Citan's rampards makes your barricade a one way shield and really comes in handy. Next, apply "dynamo" and "perpetuation" mods to your void affinity mark. This way, whenever you cast your barricade, you will gain super energy and "perpetuation" will reduce your barricade's cool down even more. Note- in order for dynamo to give you super energy, you need to cast barricade near enemies.
The synergy in this build makes sure that you always have something to help your team with. You either have tons of one way shields or a Bubble super after gaining all that super energy from casting barricade.

I am not a veteran player. I am a new light player myself but I hope this will help you in some way :)

im just saying which of the two should i choose ..im a beginner so uh just need help on knowing which one is for me if i like to be tanky/health while doing a lot of damage and being a good team member ..cuz both sound good but the sunbreaker one sounds more damaging and the sentinel sounds more protective but its also the throwing of hammers vs a purple maniac with a shield ...its just a hard descision here

Unless you're in an activity that locks equipment, you can change subclass at any given time but it resets your cool down for your skills. As for your question for tanking and all thay stuff, we really don't have those kind of roles in destiny 2.
Generally speaking, if you want to clear creeps/ads/weak hordes, sunbreaker works fine. You can either use top or bottom tree of sunbreaker. The shoulder charge skill of top tree sunbreaker, weakens enemies and boosts DPS for a short time, which can help your teammates
As I mentioned earlier, top tree sentinel a.k.a bubble helps protect your teamates and boosts their Damage overall. Just keep in mind that you need to hold the button for your super in order to cast ward of dawn/bubble. Simply pressing your super button will put you into sentinel mode instead.

I think you're the one that doesn't get it. Like others have said, you can change them at will. There is nothing that prevents you from trying them all and switching between them depending on the situation, what you feel like playing, whatever.

If you don't like the way one type plays just try another. You have either 6 or 9 choices depending on if you own any DLC.

I would suggest rocking with top void if youre going for team pve activities. Bubbles are amazing and you will have ton of survivability.

But frankly, most of the time its play what is best. Sometime spec into fire and burn em all, sometimes rock in arc and be thunder that smashes into enemies etc. The BEST is to literally know how each tree plays, unlike most mmo's you dont build around one spec and use it, you can and often should swap on the fly
dragon864789 Aug 13, 2020 @ 10:27pm
jeez this is gonna be something for sure
randomfatk1d Aug 14, 2020 @ 7:23am
for survival, I roll with either top tree void or bottom tree arc because their melees heal you. For ad clear or dps the other subclasses do it just fine. If youre doing end game content Bubble Titan will always be a good choice, especially with helm of Saint 14. I almost exclusively run Bubble since the damage buff it gives is so nice
evilsight2k Aug 14, 2020 @ 8:02am
Utility : Top tree void (plus Helm of Saint XIV if you have it)
Pure fun : Middle tree arc aka Titan Missile. Just try it out.
If You are playing strikes and not so demanding content yet, You can use bottom tree sunbreaer.
He comes with huge ranged damage so Your survivability request is filled.
He creates sunspots on the ground when he kills enemies with his abilities and hammers (in ult)
Sunspots will heal and buff Your allies so they can deal more sustained damage.
You will have both survivability and teamwork checked.
When it comes to harder content Sentinel top tree is more welcomed
Top tree voide provides "bubble" wich works with lots of cheeses against bosses and huge weapon damage buff.
This tree aswell comes with melee kill wich will create overshield on Yourself for 10s.
When it comes to sentinel another additional option is to wear "Mask of the Quiet One" wich will allow You to regenerate health rapidly when You are critically wounded, it is quite usefull in many situations.

well sentinel does seem more fun just being a purple sheild maniac and smashing them ..even with those yellow health bar enemies ...but is it great for end game tho if i keep practicing with it?

Throwing a shield around? No, not really any reason to. However, the top tree that puts down a dome is I believe the best team damage buff in the game, so that tree specifically in Void has great late game use.
