I don't understand PvP.

And I don't think I ever will. I decided to dip my toe into The Crucible to get a taste of it all and to see how much of an experience it would be to grind out some stuff, all it's done is left a sour taste in my mouth and a disdain to ever try it again.

I played 5 games of Supremacy, and lost all 5.

I'm getting melted by guns that when in my hands, shoot marshmallows at the enemy. Handguns absolutely outperforming ARs and SMGs, I'm getting destroyed before I even get a chance to turn around.

I got outgunned by someone using a Scout Rifle, I had the same gun in my Inventory so figured it would give me a fighting chance, but I have no idea how this dude was getting kills with it, because every time I tried to use it I wasn't even able to take off a Guardian's shield before I got destroyed with a pistol.

Sunshot deletes me, but tickles the enemy, I have no idea how. I had one match where I got exactly one confirmed kill with the Sunshot, and that was only because the enemy was focused on my teammate.

I'm obviously missing something, whether it be the "meta" weapons, or not, I thought my stats were fine, but it's just put everything I've done into question. If these players are godlike in PvP, then they must absolutely annihilate PvE content.

If I ever were to properly try to get into PvP, I'd have no idea where to start, it all feels like one big mess.

I wouldn't even say it's down to cheaters, there was only one dude who I thought was sus, having a little too much ESP for his own good, but I didn't feel like I was on an even playing field despite sometimes having the same weapons.

I too also dabbled just for the Guardian Games but was just left confused and lost.

I don't play pvp and wont again until i have to there are some cheaters in it not all I have been in some very good teams but personally in one match I was shot through the wall numerous times same guy it was like he knew exactly where I was even when i was moving with that mileage may vary.. peace

Unfortunately the better weapons are either locked behind raids that require you to play with a preset number of people since LFG is pretty useless or higher level PVP game play which requires again, a preset number of people to continually play with. Add to this that they continually nerf weapons and restrict ammo currencies in PVP which no one ever asks for which is pretty un-motivating to play.

Pretty much the reason I've only played 1 match of real crucible then losing.

Basically all competitive shooters are 90% cheating and 10% ♥♥♥♥-tier meta. It's not balanced, it's hot garbage. Just do it as much as you need and then get out.

New PvP player starter pack:

Ace of Spades, have at least 60 res + 100 recovery on any class, 2-3x unflinching kinetic mods, eager-edge sword for mobility (it lunges you a bit when you have no sword ammo).

Stick to your teammate, get those teamshots (coordinate fire), disengage, repeat.

Worst possible moment to try PvP. they just revamped the experience and completely killed the game. everyone has jumped ship and there are only a handful of trail hard "elites" left who are just farming people who still queue up and don't know any better.

my advice. Skip pvp altogether. it isn't worth it anymore and as you've already experienced, will sour the rest of the game.

You need to understand that there are people who live, eat and ♥♥♥♥ PVP all day and nothing else. The have specific mods and builds just to output the highest dmg per shot. Matchmaking systems aren't balanced and most of the time you'll be paired with people in the same situation as you, while the opposing team mops the floor with you all. I used to be in the same situation, I saw a weapon that was killing me all the time and i went to get it. It turns out it never was a weapon issue but a ME issue. That's when i understood PVP is not for me and good riddance.

cuz this game pvp is dogshiet, trials is dogpoopo when your teammate quit in middle of the match you still receive a loss. this game is so badddddddddddddddddddddddd

I win one match, then for the rest of the day I'll get put into the highest rated 5 man stacks that has ever existed. Using the best weapons money can buy with a full pvp build. And this is casual, wtf is ranked.

reasons why you could be experiencing this:
1. all time low player counts could mean that the remaining pvp players only play pvp
2. being your first time in the crucible, you don't understand it's a different game. people move and shoot completely different which does make it difficult for newbies
3. they just made huge pvp changes like last week so now you HAVE to be hitting every headshot to win 1v1s
4. specifically for your sunshot issue, i had the same problem when i was new to crucible, long ago during the red war, sunshot was my weapon of choice. It's a fantastic weapon, but it has horrible range and stability for a hand cannon. You need to be much closer than other hand cannons to hit for full damage. When you're far, you're only ever getting full explosion damage
My recommendation? Take Ryanqube's advice. Get yourself Ace of Spades (top 5 best feeling pvp gun), max out your recovery, play with your team. Also, maybe try comp? In my opinion threes is a lot more fun. If you still don't like it, it's probably just not for you. There are waaay less cheaters than people above me are claiming, BTW.

its not just a case of having the same weapon as the other person that is smoking you. it also depends on what perk that weapon has and what elements there using in there super class. along with armor mods and stats on the armor. its alot more complicated then people think. and some pvp players are jusst sweats or as others have said. cheating.

Match rotation was for 99.99999% of the time, win 1 lose 1, win 1, lose 1, win 1, lose 1, win 1, lose 3, win 2, lose 4, that was it pretty much the whole time.

When it came to weapons etc, well there was only 2, Conditional and The Summoner, no one seems to be able to use anything else, unless they don't have them then it's another AR, that with matching roles will just delete you.

Not to mention the lag, cheaters, being kicked every couple of games due to error codes, I gave up and when and played another game, was fine the whole time playing those games.

trials is the pinnacle pvp activity, meant for the very best players. similar to grandmaster nightfalls being for the very best pve players, if you aren't contributing in a big way, then you won't be consistently winning. if *YOU* are lagging and *YOU* are getting kicked every few matches, then do us a favor and stay out of trials.
