The Colony - Catalyst

Hi,

do i need to have this weapon equipped while doing crucible ?

do i need to make the kill with the weapon ?

What is the drop chance ? ( roughly )

You dont need to use, equip or kill with colony to get the catalyst to drop. After you get the catalyst you need to do 500 kills (any kills) to complete the catalyst if im not wrong.
