There's things that are counterintuitive when you go from PvE to PvP (like you're not spamming heavy weapons...or special weapons).
It made me look at primary weapons in an entirely different way.
I find that I am the best with sidearms. I'd like to get better with hand cannons.
Also using an exotic armor that gives me 2 grenade charges, which I never used in PvE, but I love in PvP.
Wow, I'm sure he never thought of it that way.
I use 1 2 3 as well as scroll wheel up and down to swap. But some people just use 1 2 3 and scroll for jump.
Are you fast enough with mouse wheel to swap in PvP, to shotgun when things get close?
If you get good at just ticking down 1 and not accidentally scrolling too hard past it, then your finger is sitting right on the scroll at all times and you can really quickly swap to it at any given moment. This isn't even just a PvP thing, it comes with PvE practice as well. I've played D2 for thousands of hours so weapon swapping is kind of just muscle memory and I can't explain it well.
The amount of BS in pvp is greater than cod ever was.
I'm really enjoying myself. Day 1 I was always in last place. I didn't care, I set mini-goals like 5 kills. I would never get kill streaks.
Now I am always in bottom half but not last.
The best advice I got to start was to pick weapons and exotics that you're actually good with.
It makes sense because If hand cannons are the best, but I can't hit fish in a barrel with them, then there is no point in using them.
When I get better, then I will.
For now, I do well with 2 different legendary side-arms (I switch around depending on whether I use need a free primary or special slot), and I do surprisingly well with glaives because I use them all the time.
Usually, I use a sidearm in my primary slot so that I can use a glaive in my special slot. However, my best sidearm goes in the special slot
I know people have mixed feelings about glaives and that they are never meta, but I actually can use them.
Heavy weapon slot is where I typically use an exotic. There I do best with the Black Talon sword, which gets me more kills (leap and bounds) than any other weapon that I've ever used in the game.
That weapon feels like activating a super.
As far as weapon swapping goes, I use controller, which makes it a simple button tap. If you have any experience with FPS on controller, it's worth trying out sometime, too. This game has excellent controller support and although it may feel like a disadvantage, I was able to hit diamond ELO (as per Destiny Tracker) this season with it in Control.
That being said, different guns are good on MKB vs controller, so I think it's worth experimenting with just to see if you like it. ^^ Good luck with your improvement!
I haven't tried Travelor's Chosen but that looks like the perfect fit for me because it occupies the kinetic slot.
Thank you.
I have a very High Roll Albedo Wing Glaive, so I like to keep it in the special slot.
However, my favorite side-arm so far is the Heliocentric QSC (solar) with the incandescent trait, but I use the Senuna SI6 (stasis) as my go to sidearm because it's the kinetic slot.
I do have the Quicksilver storm, and I use it often in PvE.
I just can't spray targets long enough to kill them with it in PvP yet. I really need to get better.
I do well with the Outbreak Perfected pulse rifle.
I haven't really used sniper rifles because I don't typically live long enough to get ammo.
Anyway, thanks, I will get the Travelor's Chosen.
I keep hearing about it and exclusive loot, but I don't see the queue through Crucible.
I googled about it and only saw that it's 2 man. Do I need to make a 2 man fireteam first or something?
