New to the game and a bit overwhelmed
So, I am new to the game for at least the fifth time. That means I made a couple of chars before and gave up like ... instantly. Really, there's just too much going on.

Lately I got the Legacy Collection and thought, I'd give the game another chance.

I read that Bungie tried to improve the newbie experience with the "New Light" questline. I also read that "New Light" still barely scratches the surface of what the game has to offer.

So, I managed to find my way around, more or less. I did all the "New Light" quests and now I still feel kind of stranded. There's like a million quests in my questlog. Some obviously suggesting to play the campaigns. Other's for seasonal content. More for ongoing events. And there's the ranking stuff. And dungeons. And raids.

I just started playing the Witch Queen campaign. It was a struggle just to find the campaign and to find out how to start it.

Concerning equipment:
Holy frickin' hell. So, right now I trust that it isn't about min-maxing, but more about finding out what feels right in terms of the playstyle I like. But there's no way I can tell what is good and what is bad. Does it even matter right now? My equipment rating is 1700-ish something. And there's perks! And stats! And modifiers! And ... what the hell else.

So, I just want to enjoy the game as much as I can. At the moment I feel like I am having to read guides for a week straight just to start the game.

What should I do now? Is there a guide that covers every topic a bit without getting into the high end details? Is there "must play content" I don't want to miss out on? Or should I just play the campaigns that came with the legacy collection?

Game is cancer, find a better one

You will constantly burn through gear especially armor at the start... Just equip the purples and whatever has a higher value. If the armor has anything under a 60 stat rating it can be total garbage, ideal stat number is 64. That's were the skill levels can start to climb to decent numbers. Mobility*, Intellect, and Strength and the worst stats IMO - Yet the classes depend on certain ones. Yet, Hunters (Specifically) benefit from Mobility* / Warlocks from Recovery / Titans from Resilience. Every class benefits from Resilience, Recovery and Discipline to some degree - Hunters have a weird place IMO - They have to focus on Mobility*, Recovery, Discipline and Resilience to a smaller degree. Titans are the easiest builds Since they only really have to focus on Resilience, Recovery and Discipline. Warlocks usually focus on Recovery, Discipline and again Resilience to a smaller degree. Intelligence is the most unnecessary out of them all just cause if you put perks on your armor that generate orbs you can get your super back quicker. And Strength is another one that isn't bad, it just is niche in its way. You have to be close and close is kinda bad in most situations. One KEY thing to you armor is to set your ghost to prioritize Discipline - Trust me - there are lots of guides to tell you this. The war table in the HELM seems to give decent armor most the time so you might focus there when you can. Weapons are just - eh - a pain. Get Destiny Item Manager DIM app - It gives ratings on your weapons and usually gives you a decent idea if the weapon is good or not. Other than that, visit Zur, Fish, and play in the Iron Banner.... etc. Watch videos -
Hope this helps.

DON'T MASTERWORK GEAR until you level up to 1800. Save the resources until you can get gear that is worth it. OH, yeah don't forget to pick up bounties constantly. The best part of playing at the start is trying things... If you find a gun and it works for you- lean into it. Your play style will develop as you play. If your solo I am sorry - it is allot harder to play alone. Don't worry about raids, dungeons or their ranked play you can do that later. Use the highlight feature to track your current mission line and play it on easy if that's what it takes - you can go back and replay at higher difficulty later in most cases. Join a discord send friend requests to people you play multiple strikes with. I have meet some of my best friends in Destiny- sad but true. The game does have its bad points PVE isn't generally one of them - though it gets super repetitive.

Thanks guys.

To be honest I am not that much of a group player. I enjoyed the content solo so far. Wait, I got myself into a dungeon somehow. Must've happened in one of the "New Light" questlines. The experience was fine. I mean, dungeons are mostly "Don't stay still when you're shot at" and "shoot everything that moves".

I am playing a hunter. At 1725 power I don't think there's much of a difference between classes. Some battles were harder than others but I found a strategy to win a few attempts in.
I don't really get the whole subclasses thing just yet. I watched a guide but it barely touched the surface I'm afraid.
Mostely I like mid-range combat and to sneak around sniping enemies. Close-range combat is a bit ... well, I just suck at it. xD

I've read to not worry about gear too much until I am at least 1750+ or like mentioned above 1800+. Guess that means everything works more or less.
I didn't get into bounties yet. Gotta take a look what this is all about.

So, what do I do now? Maybe I'll follow the guardian rank guide. I could try to climb up the seasonal ranks for the rewards. Or take a look at the event quests. That "bake a cookie" thing is a bit hard to understand.
