What happened with Lightfall

Hello everyone, i have around 430 hours in Destiny, is stopped playing a while ago, like 2 expansions back or something, i remember when i was playing Destiny 1 on my Playstation 4...good days man.

It's true that i ahve been busy with other games but sometimes i think about coming back and at that moment i see the latest expansion Lightfall sitting at high negative reviews.
What happened? What has happened to the game for people to be so unhappy?

lightfall was laregly meh, people are sick of the seasonal format, plus recent news at bungie has even worsened the community respect for bungie aswell

largely due to layoffs which are occurring industry wide so those people are out of a job in that industry for now in all honesty people are panicking which is understandable but the lack of info on why this happened is pissing people off. i don't feel bad for them because they thought it would be there forever job(don't quote me on that is i don't really talk them nor are friends with said people) when reality and in economics the industry has unsustainable growth which is collapsing on it self.

people are salty they pre-ordered lightfall and it was by every measure a junk DLC - the campaign was fun, but poorly paced and didn't give any real explanation to the overall story, the raid that came with it is practically a strike except for one encounter and can literally be two-manned the entire way through without much trouble, it had very few sidequests/post campaign quests and the exotic weapons that came with it ALL sucked except for one, and people even dislike going to the new planet because the enemies there are like playing a nightfall all the time. even shadowkeep was better than lightfall; they both had about the same amount of content but shadowkeep came with a dungeon and a proper exotic quest

having said all that it's still destiny; even their worst content is still miles above other games and it's always tons of fun to jump in and blow some ♥♥♥♥ up

People being layed off a job is not anyones concern to be honest. None of our business, we are just a Steam users nothing more. NO BUSINESS is required to tell "nobodys" anything on how their business operates. People are losing their jobs all over the country, food is at an all time high and people care about bungie laying off people? There are more important things to worry about

Basically Destiny 2 and lightfall are the ultimate fate of seasonal based games.
The absolutle bare minimum needed to bring in enough people to buy the season pass to break even if not profit a bit, and call it a day.

Really sucks because i loved D2, but the seasonal crap is out of hand.

I mean....every fan i know of D2, that still plays all says lightfall was a massive sour note.

Which sucks because witchqueen was a really good exp.

Being an MMO i don't know to what other games we could compare Destiny, i think in it's own way there's nothing out there like it but if i speak of MMO's and MMORPG's i prefer to play, that's what i have been playing since i left Destiny2, World of Warcraft Classic (currently on Wrath of the Lich King) I'm super happy because i was able to experience Vanilla WoW, Burning Crusade and now Wrath for the first time, i pay a monthly fee and i have access to everything the game has to offer and in Destiny 2 more than once i have spend 100€ for the most complete edition because I'm one that doesn't like to be locked out of content, played with friends that were playing as free 2 players and sometimes we couldn't do everything together...it's a let down.

I loved Destiny 1 much more than 2 but D2 has given me a fair share of cool moments, i still think that Destiny 1 was by far and large a more pure game experience.

Of course, because D1 is a completed game, nothing was cut from it. You can buy it, play it, and most importantly beat it. Destiny 2, on the other hand, is doomed to be milked until the players finally lose all interest in it.

As for Lightfall, in short - bad campaign, boring location, outrageously awful raid. The only good thing about the expansion is the new subclass. I think that this expansion is not worth buying even at a discount. You should wait for it to be added to some bundle, wait for this bundle to be sold at a discount and only then it will be worth buying.

Hey there Horn.

What you mention on your first paragraph were the reasons i have left, at one point i felt like Destiny 2 had no soul when i compared it to D1 (in my opinion - to each their own obviously), I'm sure that there are people here that love the game, that buy season pass after season pass, that like i did spend 100€ on the complete edition to be able to do what the game has to offer, me on the other hand i feel that the game reached a point where it became stale to me, they (Bungie) seem more focused on working on the next season of whatever unicorn they want to call it than to deliver a good story.

I hated when they started to cut out content but mainly the planets, to me that made no sense, in a game taking place in space cutting out planets because the game was getting big for the disks of players...what a poor excuse to give and a way to make the game feel emptier and poor. In any event it's their decision, i used to care for that game, now i really don't even think about coming back much to blame on World of Warcraft classic.

It sucks that people are being fired not only at Bungie but in the industry but they will always have enough people to work on D2, i hope that they don't completely trash the game in the future because they will risk loosing even more players.

layoffs of a bunch of people whove been at bungie for 2 decades + a lot of them were community favourites

tbh bungies playerbase has been pissed at them for years now, shadowkeep was a joke, beyond light was mid, witch queen was actually good and lightfall was mid, alot of the players hate the seasonal model especially when theres nothing to do for half the season if you keep up to date on the game

or yknow its the players who have been playing the game since d1/d2 launch and have seen how badly they've been handling the game for years and years lol
