yeah but because bounties exist it means you're getting a much lower rate of xp to the progress bar.
bro, it's just all unbalanced. and auto rifles are shockingly outmatched by bows and handguns.
Hand cannon are to easy to use .. No need to be accurate because of target aquisition AKA bullet magnetism , and insanely big hitbox the critical hit is actually manytime 400+% of the guardien head size .. i had guts shot even almost ballssack shot that registered as headshot while randomly spamming HC on targets .. you can aim over the head and still get a HS crits damage ..
The 3 hit and 2 hit kill of hand cannon is a total joke and is WAY to strong considering NOT THE SO CALL optimal TTK of other weapons but more their ( realistic ) TTK considering movement , tracking , range etc..
Bungie have always been terrible at balancing weapons properly in the crucible and now they Listen once again to the WORST ever whiners and liars there is who want only Hand cannon , Shotguns and Snipers to dominate the crucible forever and ever .. Everytimes any weapons come close to even barely compete THEY GET BUNGIE to NERF the said weapon and bring back the HC dominating never ending META
2 hit kills are unbalanced. Which is why they require a damage buff such as Kill Clip.
Hand cannons are NOT dominating. If you have half a brain and play aggressively with an SMG, you can win every fight against a hand cannon. People just play right into the hands of someone using them and then complain that they are "OP". You want to use anything that isn't a HC? Don't try and use it like one. If you rush a HC user with an SMG, you will win the fight 9/10 at close range. If you stay mid-range and allow them to use cover, they will win the fight 9/10.
And about the AA and hitboxes, that is present for every primary weapon type. It's a PvE first game, so the engine isn't geared towards PvP.

And crucible taught me to love handcannons. When I started playing I could not love handcannons. Slow, clunky and weird to hit with.
But in both PVP and PVE they just are so much fun, once you learn which ones to grab, and which ones to use and how to use them.
Of course, if I had absolutely bad rolls, then I would fully dislike hand cannons as well. But if you have decent handcannons, and there are a lot of exotics that are good, then you can just learn to love them too.
It feels, and evidently is, like hand cannons are faster at killing than smg's and assault rifles at any range.
The reason this happens is simply because smg's and assault rifles are weak in pvp. smg should be extremely powerful short-range but they aren't. their recoil is abysmal, they're ineffective mid-range (they're meant to be), and they aren't even powerful enough at short-range.
assault rifles should have an increased damage than smg's but much slower fire rate while having strong recoil and effective up to mid-range.
In destiny, you've got people running around with hand cannons dominating both short and mid-range, and all it takes for them is like 2 - 3 shots. They're faster to kill with than smg's and assault rifles despite how much the ENVIRONMENT gives them an advantage.
Because think of how easy it is for hand cannon users... They hide behind environment, slightly come out, shoot, hide, slightly come out, shoot, hide, repeat. An smg or assault rifle just can't fight that in this game. Smg's and assault rifles need the opponent to stay visible because they require much more bullets to get a kill. Hand cannons are capable of 2-tapping and 3-tapping people while also having an extreme advantage when it comes to environment.
