Pinnacle rewards

I just learned that this season the pinnacle cap will be at 1810 which I achieved during last season. After finishing an activity I was in dissaray when I could not find the pinnacle gear I was supposed to receive until I learned about this. I made my peace with it but now I noticed that one of the challenge for lvl 8th gardian rank is to earn 2 pinnacle gear and it didnt advance when I got the item from the mission. It does say earn pinnacle reward form Gambit, Nightfall, or Crucible which is nonsense as only Nightfall actually offers a pinnacle. Does it have to be from one of the 3 activity mentioned to count? Nightfall, gambit and crucible do all award pinnacles. Obtaining pinnacle gear is unaffected by already being at the pinnacle cap. I just did the nightfall pinnacle while at the pinnacle cap and achieved progress on the rank objective, so you probably didn't actually obtain the pinnacle

I only see Nightfall for pinnacle. Gambit and Crucible only offers powerful gear(tier1). Regardless when I reached this LvL I already had checkmarks on other challenges but this one wont advance after receiving pinnacle gear.

doing 3 matches of crucible and gambit and getting enough points in vanguard will get you pinnacles

i see what you mean, doing some research on google it looks like they replaced some pinnacle drops with exotic engram drops

"While loosing dedicated Pinnacle Drops will likely make leveling slower for players who aren't at or near the cap, Bungie has promised to keep an eye on how effective this system is and will make changes as necessary. However, adding a focusable Exotic Engram, which can be utilized at the Cryparch Rahool, gives Destiny 2 players another dedicated way to earn exotic gear. Being able to focus exotics is another new feature in Season 21 and players can earn more by finding them randomly in the world, from the Season Pass, or by resetting vendor reputation tracks. Like I said I'm not really concerned about this I just the challenge towards LvL 8th gardian rank to advance. Maybe I will try another character which didnt reach the cap yet to see if it would count.

Just an update. I did try another character which had not reached the cap yet. Received the Pinnacle but it didnt count towards the challenge.

Another update. I did a Nightfall for pinnacle and it did in fact count towards the challenge. It seems I have to wait for next week for the next to be available.

OK so all been said how do I see peeps past LvL 7? How did they unlock this challenge when only 1 pinnacle actually available which works? Only Nightfall highscore counts towards this as there is non for Gambit or Crucible. How these people got 2 on the first week when only 1 is available for the 3 character.

While I don't know about your issue, this^ is because your highest rank shows for the next season as well. This straddles the line between their goal of 'your rank is supposed to reflect mastery of current content so it shouldn't be permanent' and 'if it reset every season everyone starts every season at 5 and it is pointless for the starting weeks'. Current rank 11 players just got rank 11 last season; they only need to refresh it by seasons' end to keep it for the next season.

I did reach 7 last season but this one started as 6. I had checkmarks on some of the challenges for 7 and then now for 8 as well I figured I did those but then again I did get plenty of pinnacles previously as well why is it not checked? I cant advance until next week reset let us earn another pinnacle from Nightfall but it seems some of us somehow did past this problem. My question was how since this season just started this week so only 1 pinnacle was available but you have to earn 2 in order to get it done. Once this was earned on one character another character can not get it either so what gives?

For me every pinnacle works. I actually received 2 exotic engrams when I did 3 Gambit matches and unlocked that challenge.
Btw. the rank you see at other guardians is the rank they achieved last season, except if they are new.

I hear what you say I too received 2 Exotic engram from Gambit. It didnt work. Also what would be the point of seeing what anyone achieved last season. In my opinion it does shows the current one as I have seen friends starting from 6 as I did instead of what they had last season.

This was another bungie screwing over the solo or casual player by locking pinnacle gear behind a pay wall or 6 man team. Plus the exotics are the same garbage ones all the time with poor rolls a majority of the time.
