Uhh... you do know Nolan North (the voice of Ghost) is capable of doing a flawless Nathan Fillion impersonation, right? The entire set of cutscenes for Forsaken (and Cayde's death)? Those were all Nolan North.
Eh... it's not flawless. Close enough though.
Nolan North did a great job in Forsaken, Same for the replacements for Ikora and Exo Stranger. You can tell it's not the same tho when you have heard Nolan in almost every game
I couldn't tell the difference until DakotaThrice pointed it out to me.
<shrugs>
Well they were already doing a pretty good job of that by removing that whole story from the game, and forcing you to be buddy buddy with his killer.
To be fair, Cayde did leave a message saying if he came back, not to trust that it's him. So basically Bungie tried to warned us that they would cashgrab.
Considering this story has been under development for at minimum, a year? Yeah, no
Cayde may be "back" but I don't think he is back the way we think. He's inside the traveler. I think we are seeing a ghost version of him (notice his ghost isn't floating around, like Ikora's)
I think Cayde will be back as a sort of memory the Traveler conjures up to help us in whatever journey we undertake in The Final Shape
