Raising your level, just do activities on the planets and moons. It is a bit of a chore.
Look for the gold "coins". Those are "Powerful" and "Pinnacle" quests. They reset weekly. Do as many as you can every week. Try to do the "Powerful" ones first if possible.
You should also get a certain number of "Prime" engrams each week. Those should all be upgrades.
1780 is pretty low for the current Legendary Lost Sectors.
My trick? I did a *ton* of the new daily rotating event on Neomuna. It seems to drop a lot of "powerful"-worthy loot from the chests, and I got up to 1800 pretty quick on all 3 characters.
From there, it's basically just pinnacles until 1810, though.
That's one of my many issues with the changes they made, they changed the damage output and all to make it harder but they didn't change anything else to compensate. So now you spend more time running those lost sectors but you still have the same crappy odds at a drop as before. Previously running twenty lost sectors to get the drop you wanted was annoying just for the sheer number of runs but at least the runs didn't take but five minutes, the one from yesterday probably not even that. You also got to play them how you enjoy, not hiding behind walls and corners taking shots at range, running away, etc. That's how you play them now, or you try and cheese with suspend.
Thank you, could you possibly tell which are considered the easier lost sectors perhaps, haven't played this in years, if it's not too much trouble.
Thank you for the suggestion on doing powerful first, will keep that in mind.
The daily rotating event, What is that exactly and where would I find that?
Thank you as well for the input.
In my opinion the oldest in the game are some of the easiest. Today it's on Earth and is very easy. Using a long range weapon you can pick everything off bit by bit, retreating to the entrance if it comes at you. They won't follow you all the way to the entrance. Choose your place and use strand to suspend then shoot away at it, running away if necessary. The boss, for example, there is a pile of something under a tarpaulin on the way to the boss that you can stand on an snipe the boss and he won't even fire back because his gun is too low to the ground to get a good shot of you.
Here is a list of everything you can do in the game to get powerful & pinnacle gear and if it can be got solo or not.

yes the game is harder, But after 3 weeks of the game being out you are the only person to blame for not being 1800... the edz lost sector take about 5 mins or less to do flawless for plat rewards, did it 5 times got 4 exotics...
you should be doing all your powerfulls till you get to 1800, then farm all your pinnacles. to get to 1810.
Farm the seasonal event, try and do as many challenges as you can, dont pull the armor from the season pass as soon as it unlocks so that you can use it as you need to for slots that are lagging behind the rest of your armor.
its not that hard you just need to play the actual game.
Not Lost Sectors, they don't have the fixed power cap like Nightfalls, etc.
But even so, Bungie's new difficulty scaling 'expects' us to play Legend content at 15 below the recommended. Even though you can get closer to the recommended, unlike Legend Nightfall, you shouldn't need to. 1,815 should be fine.
