Zavala Voice

Okay. So as most of us know, Zavala's voice actor passed away, RIP Lance Reddick, there are a few directions Bungie could go.

- They could go the AI voice route, similar to what James Earl Jones did, gave Disney his entire recording catalogue so they can continue to use his voice for Vader, since he's retired.
- They could kill him, like Cayde-6, and replace him. Personally, I think a Cabal Titan would be interesting, but that's just me.

These would all require some story wrangling, but possible:
- Mute him. He could take a wound from the Witness's forces that his Ghost can't heal and the Ghost has to talk for him.
- Change his voice actor to Chris Judge, using a similar plot point.

Does Zavala have a future in D2, or do you think he'll be swapped out?

Ooo, I hadn't considered Groot... that could work too. I guess I was figuring if he had an African American voice actor before, better to stick with that, since changing the race of actors can cause backlash. He'd be a good contender though.

Personally I think Final Shape or last season in Lighfall should kill him and Ikora. Commit to the tension they teased at in Red War campaign and have them fall to get us closer to the end.

I do not think they should do AI Zavala, when it comes to the end of his voice lines that he pre recorded. I think he should go on some soul searching quest, since he took Amandas death rather hard. So just let him fade out, go on a walkabout..

the story is literally months old.... its not like it came out last week. get over yourself mate.

It was part of this seasons half assed story.
You had 88 days to play it yourself so its way out of the spoiler territory.

@OP I guess they already recorded most of whats coming until Lightfall.
Bungo said they won't drop D2 and continue with a new "Saga" but I won't hold my breath considering their latest "efforts" and the deal with Sony

No disrespect to Lance, but this game is fully dubbed in 11 languages. He isn't the only Zavala. Most likely thing is that he already recorded enough VA for all the currently written story, and simply wont be written into future story

I think if they kill off Zavala, they could do it off screen, like he investigates something alone (which is weird) and goes missing and we get sent to find him, but all we find is him dead with his ghost in pieces next to his corpse. Or something along that type of thing.

I agree, i say, kill him off, in blaze of glory or my previous idea....goes on a mission and goes missing only to be found dead, along with his ghost, but we find out that he sacrificed himself and saved EVERYONE....that would be one hell of a sacrifice.

Considering his voice lines for season of the deep are already done, they could do that in the beginning/halfway or ending of the season after season of the deep. Or perhaps somewhere in final shape if the voice lines are done for that (Which i doubt)... If they go with the 'walk away' one, let him walk off into the after the sunset where everything seems nice for once and he just magically disappears.. Bungie can do several things to make it memorable.

my head canon is that he is the one who stops the witness. he goes out in a blaze of glory to take out the witness, saving the universe. everything else has failed and the witness has pretty much won but with his final effort, prevents it just in time at the cost of his life.
