New player..why did the devs remove old content?
I may be speaking from my a$$ here but I keep hearing things about how the game is very expensive for a new person and also heard that they have removed a lot of content. Why on earth would they do something like that? I'm assuming that content was paid for, right?

What if I spend the $200 required of me and half of that content gets scrapped 2 years down the road? Why in the ever living hell would the players allow that to happen when it was paid for?

It seems like a cool game that I MAY want to invest some money in, but it's really starting to feel like a 50/50 despite the cool gunplay and story

Content was rushed out by Activision and aging dev tools weren't helping the problem of fixing all the bugs that stacked up with every update

Appearntly it was because of technical reasons and to reduce game size.

"In the course of making a long-running live service game, sometimes wildly unpopular decisions must be made. Consider Destiny 2’s “sunsetting” practice: For the past two years, starting with 2020’s Beyond Light expansion, Bungie has removed expansion content, largely, the studio said, for technical reasons. The cuts were made to reduce bloat in the massive online shooter and make it perform better as Bungie added new locations and features. This started in 2020, when Bungie removed almost all of the original Destiny 2 content — including the base campaign — and last year it removed the Forsaken campaign, largely considered the expansion where Destiny 2 truly arrived. This meant not only story campaigns disappeared, but also entire locations, and the activities players could pursue on them."

Can you give me a basic explanation of these devs vs the greedy giants at activision/EA etc.? Are they more of the same or do they actually like the game they're making

So..what should I buy right now, the main 4 expansions i see on steam plus the anniversary? What are the old ones that I shouldn't bother buying?
