Destiny had so much potential
For the record I have been here since D1 and initially started on PS4 and have 800+ hours on PS4 D2 alone. I am not shi$$ing on the game but I want to make fair criticism and wish that somehow bungie doesn't repeat the mistakes. First of all I would like to criticise the seasonal system, I get that it is a live service game but that doesn't justify deleting all previous "dlcs" when games like NMS, Warframe, MHW etc have a lot and sometimes more content than Destiny yet you can still play the first mission those games ever had specially considering their monetisation is not even 1% of what destiny does.

Destiny is pretty much just spam repeating strikes and doing bounties comprising of the exact same missions except for seasonal content which is removed for some reason even though it adds to the content department which the game currently, lacks when the season ends (not talking about the loot here).

They seriously need to rework the power level feature or remove it entirely by making armour give utility benefits instead of increase power level as an increase in power level literally does next to nothing except for make the "artificially" stronger made enemies easier to defeat.

Lets not talk about PvP right now which somehow is in a horrible state despite d2 having one of if not the best gunplay in video game history.

Destiny is one of my favourite games, it has the best raids, gunplay, lore etc and when the Activision split happened I thought that bungie would finally return to its former glory but the content seems to get worse which they blame on a lack of funds due to the split despite heavy monetisation, lies and deceit. Rant over, I hope I can come back to Destiny one day and it has reached its potential.

Get ready for the entire D2 sunk cost community to rip you apart for any criticisms, even valid ones.

I wish people understood that constructive criticism is actually good for the game, specially when there is lack of a direct competitor.

sadly, bungie doesn't look through steam forums

And that is a good thing. Too much inane comments from people with IQ no higher than 50

Still, there are some who make valid points. Then again its not like Bungie is oblivious to the community's demands, they just seem to prioritise maximising their profits rather than listening to the community

I have only been around since 2018, june I think.

The reason year one content was removed has nothing to do with live service.

Seasons are called seasons for a reason; this is how seasonal content works.

As I understand it, the power level thing is going to be removed.

PvP in this game is not meant to be like CoD etc., it can't be. Taking it serious, is the path to frustration.

I think the content got much better. Lightfall is not as good as Witch Queen, however if you take everything into account it's still better than year one in my opinion.

Yes, it could be much better, but it has gotten better after Activision.

Played the game yesterday for the first time. Uninstalled and removed from account today.
Another example of how a crowded product can actually be pretty bad which makes the crowd look stupid.

Moving on ....

Constructive criticism is fine (although do bear in mind, Bungie will not see any of your feedback on this forum. If you want your feedback read, then go post in the Feedback forum on Bungie’s own site).

But criticisms and discussions thereof aside; all games are finite abstractions. All games eventually become dull, no matter how well (or not well) made they may be.

There is quite a bit of inherent repetition built into the basic model (of Destiny 2). The game is an ARPG (or a looter-shooter) it is specifically a game type that appeals to people with "Hunter-mind". At least some repetition is actually desirable for both the audience and the type of game. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_versus_farmer_hypothesis )

Yes, Destiny 2 is an aging game. Yes, the game does seem to be becoming more formulaic as time goes on. and no, that isn't a good thing.

But all that aside, you do appear to have an unrealized bias. Your post reads as if you have grown tired of the game. It’s important to understand that even if the game were prefect, you personally would still grow tired of it eventually.

If you do wish Bungie to see your feedback then I suggest you post here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Topics?pNumber=0&tg=Destiny2%20FeedbackD2&tSort=0&tType=0&d=2&lang=en%3Freload%3Dtrue

Good point. I believe however that me getting tired of this game and not Monster hunter or warframe to this day does speak a lot doesn't it?

Love how any remark about Activision being un-questionably better gets auto censored. Thanx stazi.

Mm, I'll offer a counter point: I got tired of Warframe, (specifically of the mindless, repetitive grind) and yet I've been playing Destiny 2 since Shadowkeep, and I still have fun with it. The entirety of Year Five (Witch Queen) was probably the best the game has ever been. Year Six (Lightfall) is indeed weaker than Witch Queen, but it's still pretty good.

So my experience has been pretty much the opposite of yours. Are you suggesting that my experience has less validity than yours?

I hope the comparative point Im trying to illustrate is apparent.

(I don't have much to say about Monster Hunter, I haven't played it, and my understanding of it is that it's an MMORPG, so (to the limited degree I understand it) I don't consider it directly applicable).

I think I simply enjoyed warframe more to this day as it offers much much more variety in the types of missions, the gameplay aswell thanks to so many warframes aswell and the much more engaging story and lore that is also very deep (not to mention MUCH MUCH more stuff to grind and much much more content. Sure D2 might have one of the best gunplays out there but fighting the same enemies since D1 and doing very similar missions again and again to this day is quite stale compared to what warframe offers. I guess the the only upper hand D2 has in this department are the raids as its the gamemode I have the most fun in perhaps due to the involvement of 5 other players but idk. Not to mention they have a very good monetisation system set in place where the premium currency is easily attainable compared to Destiny 2 where me n my best bud paid 90 $ for expansions that are no longer in the game (the first 2) and obviously they removed forsaken too so there is that. Idk man all these practises left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to destiny. Like sure take my money but atleast don't make me feel like something major is missing every time I log into destiny it just doesn't feel right.
