Armor mods
Hi,

Can you help me understand what these armor mods do ?

Kinetic Targeting
Improved target acquisition, accuracy, and aim-down-sights speed for Kinetic weapons.
Target acquisition = Aim Assist ? Accuracy = spread ?
So kinetic targeting = more aim assist, less spread, faster ADS ?
How many do you need to have a real effect ?

Kinetic Dexterity
Faster ready and stow speed for Kinetic weapons.
What does that mean ? I think it’s sprint to fire time and weapon switch speed.
I have used one, i don’t see a benefit but with 2, it’s a lot better.
It’s the mod that makes the biggest difference for me in PvP because of the sprint to fire time.

Unflinching Kinetic Aim
Reduces flinching from incoming fire while aiming a Kinetic weapon.
It’s flinch.
I have used one, i don’t see a benefit but with 2, it’s better.

Dexterity and targeting mods stop working sometimes. Too many perks broke mods before, it might be the same this time,
I don't think you would tell the difference between 0 and several AA mods on a blind test, but there aren't many options for PvP anyway.

Targeting has different effects on MnK vs controller. I can't comment confidently on what it does to controllers, but on mouse and keyboard it increases the size of the aim cone and precision cone. These are not actually cones but wrapped projections of (presumably) sinusoidal functions that determine whether your rounds hit based on whether a hitbox intesects with your aim cone. Basically hitscan in this game shoots a volume instead of a laser that hits if it intersects with a target. The precision cone overrides the aim cone and causes a precision hit. Targeting mods increase the side of these volumes, practically speaking making the enemies bigger. Ready and stow speed refer to how quickly your weapon can be put away or brought up. Your total weapon swap time is the stow speed of one weapon + the ready speed of another, and likewise your sprint to fire speed is just the ready speed of your weapon. Dexterity also increases ADS speed marginally. Most people use 2 of each mod for the best effect, the third hardly does anything.

Dexterity helps but what really helps is 3 Unflinching Aim. According to Destiny 2 Foundry, 1 is 25 %, 2 is to 30 % and 3 is ... 40 %.
According to D2 foundry, more than 1 targeting and dexterity is useless.

I know its an old thread but i am confused about ready speed. If my weapon's ready speed is high, does it mean I will be able to swap to that weapon faster? What's even more confusing is the freehand grip mod - because it says it increases the accuracy and 'ready speed' while firing from the hip. So if im already firing that weapon from my hip, it's already in the ready state isnt it? What exactly am i getting from that ready speed?

I think ready speed means the speed at which you shoot after a sprint, a jump.
