What do I get if I buy Lightfall?

The fame is Free to play but also has these expensive DLCs that are priced as full games? So what do they actually add to the base game? And aside from Lightfall, which other DLCs do you recommend to buy, and why?

I recommend you look for cdkeys online, eneba is a good shop. I would pick up the destiny 2 legacy pack it contains three campaigns and will take a good while to get through. If you enjoy those dlcs then I would spring for Lightfall.

The dlcs add various other content such as new subclasses, new exotics and weapon/armour drops as well as dungeons, strikes and access to raids.

imo it is worth the money (cost me £19) if you love the base game.

Raids, Dungeons, Campaigns, Exotic Weapons and Armor, Legendary Weapons and Armor, and sometimes Subclasses.

Lightfall specifically has its own campaign, raid (Root of Nightmares), subclass (Strand), Exotics, and Legendary Weapons Sets.

The expansions go on sale very often so I def would wait for those instead of buying the for full price.

Wait. For. A. Sale. People talk about how trash LF was and that is mostly because they bought it at launch for $50 or $100 and have the expectations that price tag brings. LF is totally worth it for $25 or $20 or however low it gets in the future. Same goes for all the other DLC.

Most likely we will see a sale on/around the 22nd of this month to hype up the showcase event.

Disagree, most if not all D2 DLC offers your money's worth in entertainment if you like the gameplay. Legacy collection was $24 last sale and gives a good 100+ hours of content, Armory collection was $18 last sale and has the best raid in the game as well as enough dungeons, quests, and gear for another 25-50 hours, and LF gives 25 hours or so with the annual pass giving 100+ hours of stuff if you do it all. Obviously super vague numbers that are fully anecdotal but still, any D2 DLC gives you heaps of entertainment worth the price.

just don't play it. you'll eventually get to a point where you'll need to get something from a dlc you don't own or a dungeon you need a dungeon key for. just a big waste of money, the only people they make this game for still are the ones who've been playing for years and can't quit. the only way i could see myself getting into d2 as a new player in 2023 is buying all the dlc and forcing myself to get hooked on the game, but i wouldn't recommend it

tldr it's overpriced trash and you'll need to buy it all

The game is not "Free To Play", the game depends on Expansion DLC's, the game just happens to have a sort of free Trial so the players can kinda test the waters before buying the DLC's.

No, you do not "need to buy it all" there is nothing that "forces" you to buy a DLC you don't want. You might not get access to a certain gun but their are many others that are likely comparable.
