Thank you, will you kindly tell me what we both could have done to break this game? When we both live our own lives, both have our own PCs, and both haven't done anything out of the ordinary recently (when the issues arose)?
Where would I find an error code if my PC hard resets the instant it happens? I'm sorry, but I think Destiny is the problem. I've included most normal Windows troubleshooting in my list as well. Do you have anything helpful to say, or are you just gonna blindly say it's all on us?
#1 and 2 could be bungie's fault for unstable servers this season because game freezing and screen going black during crucible and the tower aren't new.
#3 sounds like a hardware or update incompatibility issue. If your computer is rebooting itself, it maybe due to the latest windows update (monthly cumulative updates) affecting the bios (boot option #1 should be set to windows boot manager). If that's correctly set, then you may want to check to see if it's a graphics card issue or an operating system issue.
Destiny 2 is still not fully compatible with windows 11 to my knowledge. While it plays smoothly, there will be expected performance bugs.
Lastly, it could also be an issue with NVIDIA GeForce's installed update. Revert to the previous version and see if there are any differences. Then try to re-install the update using the GeForce experience desktop application.
Hope you find out soon a fix!
Thankfully I've not had any issues running D2 on windows 11 until recently. There were a few instances a while back where my PC would disable my GPU automatically and would cause a crash because now it has no GPU to run on. I did a full windows factor reset, wiped the whole machine and started over. Windows hasn't disabled my GPU but now i'm getting this issue with Destiny. I'll check over the hardware and software again and see if something might be conflicting. I have a feeling it could be the GPU miscommunicating somehow.
is it like this?
Have you checked your cpu and gpu temperatures? Could be over-heating.
Yes, we have on both PCs. Nothing seems to be getting too hot.
I still get the crashes/DCs (like today) every now and then, but Destiny will just close and return to the Steam Page. I usually have it check for any steam updates then go back in. If another crash, close steam completely then go back in. You can clear the cache data in Steam as well...helps sometimes.
However! I've made a few settings changes in both Discord and Steam and have been trying to get the game to crash again while watching Window's Event Viewer. So far, I haven't had anymore issues.
What I changed was...
1: Made sure "in-game overlay" was off for both Steam and Discord.
2: Turned off "Hardware Acceleration" in Discord settings under "Advanced"
3: Turned off "Enable hardware video decoding, if supported" in Steam settings under "Interface"
Have not had any game crashes or PC reboots since I made these changes.
As far as I can tell. My brother tried the same thing I did. He's had less crashes since but they still happen at random. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure these issues started right after Steam updated it's launcher to this new layout. So maybe this will simply pass in time. In the meantime, at least it's an improvement.
used your technique still crashes...
