Why can't I send clan invites?

I'm trying to send a clan invite to my son and it won't allow me to click and send him an invite. The button won't "highlight". My settings are "by invite only". I was able to send one invite to a friend but, not to my son. We're both on Steam and my friend is on XBox if that makes a difference. Help!

Is your son able to request to join your clan? If he is then you can approve the request from the clan page on Bungie.net once you link your account.
