Overall, nothing special. Armor is cool, guns too I guess, exotic is not very exciting. Duality is still the best dungeon they've ever made, even with all its bugs.
GotD was a better raid than the actual raid- it was so much fun with friends on the first run (save for the 2nd boss which takes like 6 phases and has a shield, an ult, can place a barricade, and moves inconsistently- sometimes it rushes you at the start, others it just ♥♥♥♥♥ off and sits at the back.
I really enjoy the water sections of a visual level but they take too much time to run through on repeat runs. This is a very similar problem to RoN.
Unlike RoN though I really like the mechanics and loot, and it's one of the few dungeons where I think the mechanical experience is actually better when you're solo (though that is dampened a bit by the addition of the shield on bosses).
"Punishes you for low damage" just like every other boss?
Arbalest/Lament make the shield barely a factor. I was mostly think about raids where low damage means a wipe. I guess most other dungeon bosses can be attrition-ed but can't think of any reason to.
Raids are also irrelevant to this discussion, we're talking about dungeons.
It doesn't matter whether or not you think there's a reason to. The game allows for it and if someone finds that solution to the encounter more manageable then it's a valid solution. The tradeoff of the encounter taking more time in exchange for consistently is enough. I don't see why that needs to be punished further with the inclusion of a regenerating shield on bosses.
as for the 1st encounter and underwater section... yeah, they are drawn out way too long...
I think the most recent time Bungie has made a concerted effort to make speedrunners happy was adding Eager Edge.
