What is your opinion/take on the newest dungeon in Destiny 2.. Ghosts of the Deep?
You have the floor.

I have to say, in my opinion. this dungeon is probably the most annoying dungeon in the game.

the dungeon encounters are fine. the only thing i don't care for are the underwater bits (same for the deep dives). doesn't really add anything but some tedium and sort of reminds me of the underwater parts in bioshock 2. if they added some level of complexity or challenge they would be fine, but they don't; they just exist to exist because of the theme of the season and just slows stuff down. other than than, the dungeon is pretty alright. not my favorite, but not bad.

Pretty much what the speaker above said. The water sections are nothing but tediousness for the sake of slowing down your progress. I also do not quite understand the feature with the shields on the bosses. Raid bosses never had any shield after removing their invulnerability. I also don't like the fact that the Witch is very fond of teleporting at the most undesirable moment during the damage phase, and sometimes she decides not to teleport at all. Very inconsistent.

Overall, nothing special. Armor is cool, guns too I guess, exotic is not very exciting. Duality is still the best dungeon they've ever made, even with all its bugs.

the water part is whatever- better than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ section in RoN
GotD was a better raid than the actual raid- it was so much fun with friends on the first run (save for the 2nd boss which takes like 6 phases and has a shield, an ult, can place a barricade, and moves inconsistently- sometimes it rushes you at the start, others it just ♥♥♥♥♥ off and sits at the back.

Probably my favorite dungeon now. The only part I hate about the dungeon are the moths. The underwater sections and the boss shields needing to be manually depleted are annoying, but they're bearable.

Gotd is currently my favorite dungeon, sure the boss hp might be a bit overtuned but it's actually okay if you play in a group.. On solo it's a pain hence why i'm not even going to bother with the solo..

bored as hell

I hate the shield as it punishes any scenario where you have low damage requiring you to delete the same portion of health effectively over and over again.

I really enjoy the water sections of a visual level but they take too much time to run through on repeat runs. This is a very similar problem to RoN.

Unlike RoN though I really like the mechanics and loot, and it's one of the few dungeons where I think the mechanical experience is actually better when you're solo (though that is dampened a bit by the addition of the shield on bosses).

"Punishes you for low damage" just like every other boss?

Absolutely the best dungeon so far, tuned just right for 3 players. But if you are playing with less people it gets rough, the final encounter mechanics take 3 times as long solo since you have to do each lightbearer separately. Dungeons have previously been built around solo, but this one feels weird, like solo wasn't as much of a consideration. Just add the modifier that scales HP to player count and you're all good.

No other bosses have this mechanic. Widdling bosses down through attrition is more effective in other dungeons because they don't effectively regenerate a portion of heath.

Arbalest/Lament make the shield barely a factor. I was mostly think about raids where low damage means a wipe. I guess most other dungeon bosses can be attrition-ed but can't think of any reason to.

There being a solution in the form of 2 guns isn't the response you think it is. Forcing particular builds like that isn't in the spirit of a game with such expansive buildcrafting.

Raids are also irrelevant to this discussion, we're talking about dungeons.

It doesn't matter whether or not you think there's a reason to. The game allows for it and if someone finds that solution to the encounter more manageable then it's a valid solution. The tradeoff of the encounter taking more time in exchange for consistently is enough. I don't see why that needs to be punished further with the inclusion of a regenerating shield on bosses.

2nd and 3rd encounters are the best dungeon encounters this game has to offer, and its not even close.

as for the 1st encounter and underwater section... yeah, they are drawn out way too long...

The bulletsponge bosses are not fun, just tedious. I guess Bungo have to make the elite speedrunners happy so that they have a hard time oneshotting them. Bungo has always just cared about what a couple of streamers (and their army of npc's) think anyway. ;)

I think the most recent time Bungie has made a concerted effort to make speedrunners happy was adding Eager Edge.

My POINT is that speedrunners kill bosses (or finish a dungeon etc) too fast and then they complain about how easy it (a boss for example) was and Bungo being Bungo makes the speedrunners happy by making the bosses, not harder but more tedious for normal players.
His point is that it doesn't matter if they complain. Speedrunners aren't the target audience of these dungeons. There's no way that Bungie would design their dungeons for such a small audience of an already small audience that buys dungeons. The health is more likely due to overestimating how optimal general players were going to be when approaching DPS.
