GoA vandal Ghorn catalyst spawn issue

When I play Grasp and I get the first two chests, and finish the fallen shield encounter for the ghorn catalyst, I go to the last vandal, damage him for a second, and he just poofs before I can get a burden of riches debuff? Is there something bugged or is it timed?
