Strand is ....... Meh. Seriously. Thats the best you could do ?
When I first saw strand I was hyped. I thought it was going to be a class designed around rapid movement and the spam of threads which would then spread out to snare up enemies and stuff. When I got Strand in the campaign it further reinforced this. Sure. The damage was lackluster. But hey that makes sense. After all I got all this mobillity and a shoulder charge which I can use to at least do some solid damage to adds. Except the only reason that combo is possible is due to the extremly condensed cooldown you get from being "Strand Empowered". The truth is the grapple abillity has a 1:45 second cool down and each individual melee attack is similarly long. So instead of swinging around the map you are instead desperatly considering whether or not to use cool downs. PLease for the love of god rework this bungie. Either make the grapple the mobillity feature of the class or cut the cool down to 20 seconds. As is strand is utterrly useless outside Neomuna and even there is barely has function. There is no point to this class in any of the harder content. All 3 of the light classes do everything it can but better and even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stasis has more utillity.

personally haven't bought lightfall, but it gives us little strand trials in the patrol area. only part that I really like about strand, at least on titan since that's been my first and only experience, is the grapple. I'd be willing to give up grenades on arc and solar if I could have grapple on those two subclasses while keeping the arc and solar abilities. I say arc and solar for titans because stasis kind of relies on those crystals for damage and defense, void titans to suppress or make volatile.

As for warlocks I probably wouldn't sacrifice solar grenades since I still use sunbracers. Same case for warlocks and hunters as titans in regards to stasis, it needs the stasis grenades. Don't play warlock or hunter enough to remember the other subclasses grenade usage.

hell, it could maybe even replace class ability if considering it purely for movement purposes. I use dodge on arc titans anyways, so I'm not even using a barricade.

Note: I wouldn't be using the grapple for damage because my Titanfall wired brain only sees it as mobility. I'd use it for getaway (post code of missile usage to back away from boss or get back to actual ground beneath me Oryx) or closing a gap (swords, shotguns also Oryx). For warlocks, compensating for that stupid moment where your glide just sends you straight down for no reason.
I havent finished campaign but i am playing hunter. From what I noticed so far strand isnt for damage. Hunter melee is good but it doesn't do actual damage compared to stasis hunter shuriken which will kill all trash in 1 or 2 melees. However if I melee enemies then kill them i get a tether. The tether will destroy all the trash i throw it at. So that is good. I can also tether to a spot and pull myself at any time and combo into an aoe melee which does the same as throwing a tether. So also good. My super allows me to press 1 button and wreck anything in a large radius around me, and since its a roaming super I can kill a lot of enemies with it. I can also throw it directly at enemies straight in front of me and it will cause an aoe explosion, i think if the enemy dies. For boss damage it is pretty trash I think, but if there are adds nearby I can get some damage in. Add on top the shatter dive suspension and I think hunter is great.

The reason strand hunter is fine for me, is because i play stasis hunter. As such I have max resilience, max discipline, and max strength. I also have all my mods focused on armor charge and faster grenade cool downs. So for me everything is all good.

Titan Strand looked trash before launch, so im not surprised it is. Hunter looked the best, and Im not surprised if it is. Warlock is in the middle.

IMO strand will get buffed. They released Stasis OP, so they released strand under powered. Theres also the fact that this class is combo based. If you use grenade on an existing tether it has no cost. If you infect enemies with strand they will make a tether. Strand weapons should also infect them without you needing to use your abilities so you can get free tethers. So you can shoot with strand weapon, kill something, it makes a tether, you throw it and charge melee into enemies and wipe a pack out. Its useful just for repositioning, gives hunters extra mobility, and gives all other classes an equivalent to hunter dodges. It has CC in suspension, but is not a high damage class.

The grapple feels horrible and doesn't seem to mesh with how the characters jump, should have had a new jump type for strand. using the grapple to get around sucks, 95% of the time you're gonna collide with something in the middle of the grapple.

I didn't think the grapple was too bad, but I was also running lion rampant on my titan at the time. felt like I got some momentum going at one point. maybe if I get my level up more I can give it another try when I don't die to 2 bullets from max resilience.

Berserker is fun. The super's somewhat like Sentinel, so that's good for me.
Haven't gotten it on the rest yet.

Yeah the flow of the grapple kinda ruins the entire point of it to me. It's neat but not fluid at all. I love the Super though.

Awesome information, thanks for that .

strand is just a gimmick. 0 effort was put into it. It's not viable for any sort of endgame activity.
