This has to be a joke
it feels like they didn't even play test any of the campaign at all, why is the normal mode the same power level as the legend mode? im nearly finished the campaign (where it feels like nothing has really happened) and it's like every mission it throws me is 40-50 light levels above my own (and im already 1720.) Not about to play destiny to sweat to beat basic content, feels to hard to play on a casual level at this point.

You have to keep in mind the difficulty increase was based on content creators who usually play harder content then most people anyways. But for an average player or a new player they aren't used to it. So it's a good change for vets but not for anyone else. Plus unlike legend normal doesn't give enough loot to keep up with the light requirements.

finished the legend campaign in one sitting, haven't played naught but campaign missions, its way easier than Witchqueen
you have 2k+ hours on d2, this post is for more of a casual players stand point, it's unenjoyable

It's definitely over-tuned. I usually play through classic to get the story without much trouble then do legendary afterwards and skip all the cut scenes. I'm on the final boss right now and just left because its wasting so much of my time every time i wipe. The standard difficulty shouldn't hinder anybody from completing the campaign. I'm sure a small army of sweats with 5,000 hours in the game will come in here and defend Bungie's complete inability to tune this game from day one, but you are correct; it is grossly over-tuned for the average player.

There are enough difficulty settings in this game where any competent dev could have made the game work for both pools of players. Catering to the streaming scene is why the community in this game is so bad to begin with.

i just feel like its not nearly as good as the dlc they drop usually is, very.. lack luster ig, low effort put in. Especially story wise, not going to really go into it to avoid spoilers since its all still new. But gameplay wise most my deaths have been from being knocked off the map. I could also go on about the fps drops and all that too but it personally doesn't bother me that much so ill pass

Im not having any issues with the difficulty but Im honestly pretty disappointed so far with the rest. The loadouts are about the only plus I can find so far. It feels like a downgrade pretty much everywhere else, especially the new mod system.

I find that hard to believe.

maybe it will all feel better once builds start coming around with the new modding system but as of now I don't even feel like finishing the story. Also I wonder how people are going to go about picking up their orbs of light, idk about everyone else, but i wouldn't enjoy keeping an eye on that timer and having to run to each orb. and i don't see a mod coming that would make orbs come towards you like how there was for wells.

There's nothing really significant in the story and it feels like they're forcing you so hard to use strand (which i enjoy grenades so i'm not much of a fan of the grappling ability replacing them)

I can probably better describe the problem:

Normal mode is easy enough provided you have either at or higher-than light level requirements for the mission, the only things that can kill you are those minibosses with the scythes and that's *usually* from knockback.

However Normal doesn't pay out, like, at all. The gear you get is marginal in quantity.

Legendary mode requires cheeses, specific builds, it's akin -now- closer to Master Lost Sectors if you're running solo. The loot in this case is -vastly- better, and enables a player to keep up with the campaign without grinding themselves into boredom.

But Legendary requires you to not just be good at the game, but be able to run Endgame stuff in a way that most normal people are just not able to achieve in a sane timeframe.

Really there needs to be a Hero difficulty that sits between Normal and Legend which is LL capped at -5 (not -15) and offers you loot which is half way in quantity between Normal and Legend. That'd be an approachable challenge for most people and would eliminate the worst of the grind.

Right now Legendary is fine, for what it offers. Normal however is very, very undertuned on the loot front.

yeah the standard mode is surprisingly difficult. it requires more effort and patience from me than i'm willing to give to destiny at the moment so i'll come back if it get dialled back a little. check my dark souls 3 hours i'm more than happy to play a challenging game but this doesn't feel like problem solving or a planning issue it's just being overwhelmed and being forced to play the game like doom with twelve billion enemies surrounding you on all sides. i love the enemy variety of destiny but some parts of missions have you simultaneously fighting sniper, heavies, beefcakes, rocket launcher, grunts, jetpack guys PLUS the fallen variations at the same time for good measure. do your best and fluke the rest apparently
