I would say they don't normally drop slower than about one every 30 minutes.
Seriously, just doing any activity in the game will give you Umbral engrams. Run lost sectors, do patrols, do bounties. Do some playlist activities.
The Soul Harvest event on Calus' ship is probably a pretty good source for them, give that a try.
Well, that's just a week at a time, so it ends when they do weekly maintenance. I think they're doing three per season now, but the next one won't be until S20.
You mean one end boss kill? Or three?
Regardless (if it was three end boss kills), that's about 30 to 45 minutes tops (depending), getting one Engram for that sounds about right. Do you have the Legacy item from the Crown of Sorrow? That might buff your drop rates slightly. You'd need to own S17 to get that though, and I would NOT recommend you buy the Deluxe Edition of Witch Queen just for that at this point, there's only about 3 weeks left in Year Five at this point.
Dunno what to tell you then though. That whole run is (on average) a loot piñata for me. I'm sorry you're not getting stuff, but it's probably just a bad RNG streak.
The one thing I will say though: I tend to keep several Umbrals in my inventory un-decrypted, just so that if I want to buy something from a focusing vendor I can. If I get over 5, I'll just go to Rahool and open whatever's lowest, but other than that, I don't open everything as soon as I get it.
Same as you. I play a lot and I still have engrams up the wazoo. Haven't noticed any difference.
If i remember correctly then they run on a timer before you can get another one and crucible matches come pretty close to that timer.
Some of the seasonal activities also have good droprates
I also have the feeling that you get more of them if your inventory is full with engrams.
I noticed that Seasonal activity has dropped slim to none, while Iron Banner and other activities did drop them but not like candy.
It must have been a shadownerf to promote Iron Banner, and may return to normal on todays update/reset.
The main quest may not give you many, activities give you a ton.
