As a new player starting to notice warlock sucks at pvp

Is warlock really weak compared to other classes or is there something I don't notice ?

If you're just starting out, the differences don't matter. At least in terms of what is better or worse at the high end.

Warlock is probably the most powerful class in terms of universal utility. They have high damage supers, buff supers, de-buffs, and they have the most in air movement as of now. They are the premier choice of speed0runners for both damage and speed, and they have the most flexibility of any of the classes.
If you're just starting out, they have a pretty rough start. I recommend getting star-fire protocol (exotic chestpeice) and watching a build guide to help you understand how to build with the class.

It is the movement. Warlocks have the worst movement, incredibly slow compared to both Hunter and Titan. The kits are alright they work well in case the lag is less than 3 frames which is sadly super rare.

Exotics are also tuned for pve first. Snake gloves is basically the only neutral exotic for pvp because it can fix some guns.

Warlock has access to some of the highest skill ceiling tools in the game. Shadebinder is one of the most lethal roaming supers is the game and has access to some of the most brutal zoning and CC tools available. Solar Warlock is easily the fastest and most mobile sublass in the entire game. Void and Arc both offer extreme levels of utility and synergize with their respective exotics in really effective ways.

Warlock just takes time to master, time you have not spent.

I play warlock. It is a good class and does good work in pvp. I have 1000s of hours in this game and I can tell you it has some of the best utility and movement in the game spread across its subclasses.

The rankings comparison between classes are more dependent on what guns are themselves popular. When the meta is faster with more HCs and SMGs, then hunters and warlocks are typically the meta. When the meta is slower with more pulses and scouts then it's usually warlocks and titans (but mostly titans).
