Yes.
Weapons count too. You get the max rep bonus for 5 pieces of gear.
Just use the old set items as ornaments if you got those.
Surely killing is important to deny enemies access to a zone, but most of the time you have 1 or 2 or 3 players attack a zone, if its a random match.
I dont understand why this is so hard to grasp, some people really need to grow a brain.
You go cap the zones and hold 2 zones at least and rotate, and if you find a large gathering of enemies in one zone, you try to wipe them or leave and rotate elsewhere or make ambushes for them.
But the normal IB experience with MM is: randoms run in circles, from one zone to the other, all alone and try to capture the zone and then get wiped by 2 or even a better skilled lonely player.
This is why you all are losing, because none of you can work together and have at least a hint of some brain cells. Bungie pushes it onto your face with every quote from any character in the game, but lets face it - The player controlled Guardians dont fight together, they are selfish socially inept sociopaths.
That's why I LIKE the mode ... there's a strategic concept to engage with.
And yeah, some people don't seem to grasp the concept, but most of them seem to get it okay.
