Seasonal Focusing quest can't be completed?

I am on step 3 of 4 for "Seasonal Focusing" and I have to focus an Umbral Engram into a weapon or armor piece at the Star Chart in the HELM. I have done this twice already, and I did one at the War Table for good measure. I still have this quest as incomplete, what can I do?

Are there multiple ways to "focus" and maybe I'm missing something. I just click the star chart, go to the second page and then pick... oh, I'm picking "basic spoils" and I need to pick ones that say "armor spoils" or "weapon spoils" (even though basic spoils does give you armor or weapons).

But it wants plundered umbral energy, which seems to be a season 18 thing (from what I've found).

So how on earth do I complete this? Also, please explain it like I'm five... I've been away for a LONG time and I'm crazy confused about everything.

Focusing Umbral Emgrams at the Exo machine, NOT the star chart, resolved the issue because.. science!?

maybe the SEASONAL quest requires you to do the current season thing?
