Mountaintop quest: Don't panic and advice

I just completed the quest and got my Mountaintop.

A couple of lessons learned:

- Once you complete the Triumph the next quest step (to pick up the weapon from Shaxx) does not trigger. Don't panic, simply exit the game and return, it appears once you get back.

- The hardest part of the quest line is the grenade launcher kills in the Crucible.

- Grenade launcher kills are MUCH easier in Momentum Control where 1 hit = 1 kill. Do not bother doing this quest step in any other modes, just wait for Momentum Control to come around.

- The harder part of the grenade kills are the "rapid succession" kills and to a lesser extent the "3 kills in one life". Do these with The Colony. Technique: Get the heavy ammo, and when you find an enemy fire 3 rounds in his general direction and the other 2 in "likely" directions. Chances are that there will be more enemies you don't see, giving you the multikills you need.

- The 500 launcher kills are easily done with the Fighting Lion due to the large magazine and using regular ammo. You almost never run out of grenades.

- Don't forget that grenade launchers require holding the mouse and releasing it at the moment you want the explosion.

Use these techniques and you will find that the quest becomes nowhere as painful as it was for most people. I wish I had this list before I started and I hope it serves you well.

I just used a heavy nade launcher while grinding for Recluse and got it done. Mainly due to progress being x10 in comp.

Did you also use Militia's Birthright while doing this (ie, when The Colony was taking up your Exotic allowance)

Just an addition , i find it easier to get killed (2 quick kills) in mayhem, heavy spawn more frequent with colony of course

I used the Militia's Birthright with The Colony. I did not use it with the Mountain Lion... it was kind of redundant, although you could use it with Blinding Grenades to prep for the Lion if you did normal crucible.

I am done with the sweatiness... almost. Still have to get that Legend Glory rank. There are still many quests that I have to seek, but this is the last one in my quest list. I am debating whether to try it with my Titan this season or to try it with a different character next season.

Even so, from now on any crucible I do will be purely for fun, and I am finally able to play it correctly, without any "must use gun X and kill him through a hit in the third toe of the left foot" goal.

OP, you have my symphathies. I did a lot of this in The Division, almost anything. And I said to myself I never wanna experience something like that again. LOL. Nevertheless, I had to go into it again.
