I am just wondering why the guides all say FW is better.
for pve you can roll funnelweb with things like frenzy and adrenaline junkie which gives it higher damage, and if you're on void, you can proc things like volatile rounds with it, which makes it very good for ad clear.
it also doesn't take up an exotic slot, and in higher tier pve activities, people tend to prefer exotic specials like arbalest, witherhoard etc or things like Gjally.
It would be nice if there were more viable VOID Auto Rifle options for Void than are currently. Only one I know of is Gnawing Hunger (https://www.light.gg/db/items/821154603/gnawing-hunger/) which drops from Gambit and it's horrible.
But when I have to get void kills or smg kills, pretty much only time I use it. I honestly vote that it is not all that.
It's subjective to a certain degree. However in my opinion, all SMGs with 900 RPM and 37 base mag are the best. Both of PvP and PvE. Funnelweb is void so it suits void subclass for PvE. Riskrunner is arc and an exotic. I personally don't like RR in PvP and it's okay in PvE.
The issue I have with RR in PvE is that it needs to be primed. Osteo Striga and any voltshot does this with ease while RR relies on you blowing yourself up with an arc grenade or that enemies use arc weapons. Making it's use limited. Any hard content prefers other exotics so it limits RR even further from being useful.
At the end of the day it's all about personal preference and what you enjoy using.
This is where reload stat comes into play. I run Flared Magwell and Frenzy on my Funnelweb. Base stat is 2.03 second reload. Add reload perk on arms lowers this further and when Frenzy is up it will be something like 1.4-1.5 seconds. Can't find the correct time but it is low. Low enough to not have a long load. I also run Subsistence, meaning ammo returned into the mag on kills. This is all PvE of course.
never used it since.
it's a fine gun but you can craft the calus one so why bother?
also gnawing hunger is purple and breaks anti barriers.
