Question: Solstice Challenge, Guardian kills

So ... I like the Solstice armor, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it for me to actually attempt to do all 24 challenges. Some of them are (obviously) easy and quick. Some are easy, but grindy.

Some of them, sadly, require PvP, a thing I am extremely bad at.

One in particular is a challenge to kill 100 guardians. So my question: Is that team kills? Or personal kills? If it's team kills, then ... maybe ... I have a shot at completing the challenge on at least one character. If it's personal kills, that's probably realistically out of my reach in the 2+ weeks left.

And ... if I do end up attempting it, I apologize in advance to anyone who has the misfortune to end up on a team with me. To anyone who ends up on a team opposing me, you're welcome.


(And no, I'm not likely to improve much at PvP, I'm old, I know myself quite well. It ain't a thing I'm good at and it ain't a thing I enjoy much, and let's leave it at that).

It's Mayhem Mode in the crucible, just use a decent super and you should be able to get 100 in an hour or so, if not less.

Personal kills. i would recommend doing Mayhem since you can spam supers over and over again to get kills. Just get kills and don't worry about winning, not worth it. Mayhem will go away tomorrow at reset so probably do it before reset since its easy.

As others have said mayhem is your friend here. But here is some other stuff.

- try if you can to get 100 intelligence, that way your super recharges at fastest rate.

If warlock
- I recommend nova bomb. It can gurantee a kill, maybe even a lucky double.

Titan
- Hammers. Either variant should work well.
- if your good with thunder crash that will work too

Hunter
- blade barrage
- golden gun

I got that one done by just playing a full reset of gambit. The vanguard challenge is much harder, because im about 20 light level short of doing masters lol.

Master gives no better progress. Hero and above is 10% no matter what.

Except that that gives zero progress for me. So its either bugged or idk, but i get no progress from lower then masters.

Hmm ... well, thank you for the responses, the need for personal kills certainly makes it a lot less likely for me. Maybe I'll give Mayhem a try, but I'm not optimistic.

As for Gambit, I suspect I'd have to be doing a lot of invading to get a lot of Guardian kills, and ... that's unlikely, the only time I ever invade in Gambit is on the extremely rare instances when everyone else is actually worse than me. It has happened, buuuuuuut it's pretty rare.

I got most of the frags from simply killing the invaders. There's some new gambit weapons which makes this more "fun", that enables tracking enemy for team m8s if you shot the invader at least once. I tried running a hero strike, and without any shader for my fully kindled masterworked solstice set, and it is 0% progress.

Doesn't work here, but then again, it does say master or grandmaster here. doesn't it say that for you?

I thought 'oh 20 maybe 5 control games', then I saw the other challgene:

You're required to do 25gambit/crucibles for a challenge so I can't imagine you wouldn't get them in 25 crucible games. Use a fighting lion, just shoot what other people are shooting, witherhoard hallways, use the new tracking smg. Should be able to get at least two a game.

well imo the throne world challenge is even more grindy to non dlc owners, and pretty scummy since its a free event

true without wellspring it takes ages


if u want that 100 kills u should do it today or try to get it done today. Idk which mode comes next but this one is rly fast and with that supers its rly ez to get the kills.

Not going to lie, I dislike playing PvP in general but I knocked out this challenge and the Seasonal Challenge to get 50 Super guardian kills in Mayhem near simultaneously, pretty sure both challenges popped in the same match. It took me like an hour total maximum.
