As for the old armor, as far as I know there is no way to get it.
I am literally playing 3 games on both my accounts and that is it, then when it comes back next season I will play the 3 games each time.
Iron banner was fun, until they decided to bring back this awful mode that was good in D1 but garbage in D2.
Edit
One more thing, if you decide to grind out to reset your rank, when you start off even with a 5x XP bonus from playing 5 games plus the 2.2x Bonus from wearing 5 pieces of armour or ornaments, plus a emblem, you get a whopping 44 points for losing a game, yes 44 points and you need 10,000 to reset!
Maybe the old armor comes back in a future IB event :C
How do you get the IB armor ornaments?
There's a transmog system. Talk to Ada-1 to get started on using it.
You have to own (or at least have owned) a given piece of armor in order to use it to make a Universal Ornament.
You might also want to check Eververse, there's a package called the Year One shaders that you can purchase for small amount of Glimmer.
Oh I see, yeah I'm currently doing that questline and I have the shader package. Does it contain an Iron Banner shader?
Hmm... You'd have to look. I'm not sure, but I don't think so.
You can look at all the shaders you have access to in the cosmetic section for any armor piece. Or via the transmog interface (although you might need to finish Ada-1's quest to unlock that).
Right-click on any armor piece and press "S" to see the cosmetic pane. That should show you all the Shaders you have.
My recollection is that IB shaders generally are not included, but I'm not positive. (Meaning you'd have had to unlock it via IB quests during the Season it was available, or unlock it via dismantling something that had the shader in question).
Once you have the transmog interface unlocked, you press "S" from the main character window, and then right click on the icon in the upper right to open it. It's pretty comprehensive, and will let you preview pretty much everything. It'll show you all the armor sets you have available to unlock (and how many unlocks you have, which is what Ada-1's main quests are for).
You can also look at the Collections tab as well of course.
This is true but it is the daily challenges that are the major source of reputation boosts.
Firstly there is no streak bonus for Iron Banner, though Valor will gain a bonus as usual.
The only bonus is in your modifier, which is indeed 2.2x for 5x IB gear pieces and an emblem. As it is 30 points base for a win, that is 66 reputation for a win with 2.2x and 44 for a loss, yeah that sounds terrible.
But each challenge offers an additional 2.2x and there are four in total, unlocking one per day until they're all available. As all you need to do to complete them is to keep playing on the right subclass, you can get the max modifier of 11x. Now it is 330 for a win and 220 for a loss, sure it'd suck to have a 46-match losing streak in order to achieve a reset, but you're assumedly going to get some wins there, it isn't so bad really.
Plus unlike a streak bonus, once you reset your rank once, the full modifier will still be in effect and you'll be earning max points immediately.
I have no interest in making it take longer, so avoid the solo queue and that way games are over in 3 minutes or so.
Bungie shouldn't be listening to the streamers for everything, Rift was the biggest mistake for Destiny 2 Iron Banner but all the streamers wanted it, so here it is and it's annoying basically everyone!
You will need to wait for a refresh or an old set to be available to get... so you are stuck with this unless you played previous IB's.
