How good is the witherhoard?

It applies a DoT to anything it hits, and leaves a killing zone on any floor it hits.

The catalyst quest has been sitting in my quest list for a very long time because I wasn't bothered doing PvP stuff but since I started playing momentum, its been pretty fun (imagine having fun in PvP) even though I'm bad at PvP - shame its not a permanent mode.

Witherhoard catalyst basically has an auto-loader mod which is useful in a stressful situation where you don't have time to reload the gun, switch to another gun kill the mobs and at the time you killed all the mobs, witherhoard is already reloaded and good to go.

So I'd say: Go for it.

Some people don't use it because they don't have the catalyst. I'd say the catalyst is one of the things that makes it too good to pass on. Its hard to do catalyst but in time it'll be worth it.

It's a total pain in the ass for anyone on the receiving end, be it NPC or player.

In PvP it creates crazily powerful death zones, which easily blocks off paths in enclosed areas or sentences barrier/shotgun players to their inevitable death. I have it on my Titan at all times to piss toxic players off in Survival & Trials of Osiris.

With the catalyst, it even reloads itself automatically while holstered, so you just fire, switch gun to continue fighting, and very briefly it'll be ready to fire again.

witherhoard and trinity ghoul are the best exotcis in this game.

It is pretty good for PVE.
It also works good for PVP if you manage to place your shots correctly.
Maybe one of the greatest exotics. I suggest do the catalyst, I think it gives you auto loading.
