Anyone else tired of this .0003 ttk at insane ranges meta?
For those who don't know, the average reaction time is about 250 milliseconds, or about 1/4 of a second. For those of you who also don't know, Bungie has newcomers and people with 1.0 k/d (per match, not lifetime) pitted up against people who have a ttk of maybe 100-200 ms higher than the average reaction speed. This has resulted in over 60% of my matches ending in a mercy, or lost by a landslide. I know that Bungie has said that they're implementing skill based matchmaking, but I feel like they should do a lot more than just that. For one, I feel like the skill based matchmaking shouldn't be a score relative to your performance, I feel as if you should be placed into matches with people who have similar stats to you, not just k/d, but also headshot %, average ttk and similar ping, among other things. I also feel as if they should tone down the weapons. It feels like Forsaken all over again, where Bungie gives the good toys to the people who have money, time, and the will to grind for potentially months just for one single weapon, while the rest of us who don't spend every waking moment playing are just sitting ducks in the crucible. I'm not sure if there was an update yesterday, but a few days ago I felt as though I could score pretty high on the leaderboard, not perform too terrible, and generally be an asset to my team, but for the past 8 matches in the crucible, I've noticed a huge change, in that I'm not able to do anything or go anywhere without someone 2 bursting me from the complete opposite side of the map with Horror's Least, or somehow coming out alive in a shotgun fight despite my shot being placed dead center, and having more range. There's also been a few times where I've straight up shot someone point blank in the chest once, then again a meter or two further, and then again, and then I die to 2 melees while they're health is almost completely untouched. I feel like Destiny 2 isn't fun anymore not just because most people are efficiency>fun in both PvE and PvP, but the crucible that used to be so fun for so many of us, now just feels like a fight for our lives that we can't win. The three things Bungie needs to change to make crucible a way better mode, is to tone down the range of a lot of weapons, most importantly, the majority of pulse rifles, a select few hand cannons (and not even by that much, just like 5-10 meters) and smgs, which are supposed to be close ranged weapons, but end up outgunning handcannons if the smgs are in their optimal range. Seems like that's how it's supposed to work right? No, because the maximum range on smgs, in particular Shayura's Wrath, and Shayura's Adept, are not very far off from the maximum range of hand cannons. The second thing Bungie needs to fix is matchmaking, and BADLY. I found myself in many situations where the match would be over before I had time to finish making a sandwich which I started while in the queue, which, funnily enough, I was already halfway done making it by the time the game actually started. I sat down and all I heard was "I'm calling this one." THE MATCH STARTED LESS THAN A MINUTE AGO, HOW IS IT ALREADY A MERCY. This was happening so much, often over 10 times a day, and I only usually play around tops, maybe 30 matches a day. I don't want matchmaking based on a score that Bungie awards you, we all know that that doesn't really do much even in other games, what we need is a matchmaking system based around how similar guardians are in terms of stats, how many overpowered weapons they have, headshot %, shots landed/shot fired, ability and super hits, so that way there's not someone in the lobby who can hit every golden gun shot/weighted knife headshot when none of the other guardians can. Does this make the game seem a little bit boring, and feel like everyone's the same? Yes, of course it does, but not only is that kind of the way games are meant to be played, but in practice, it can actually make for a pretty fun match when you're not getting killed by everyone and everything around you every 5 seconds. I'm no game developer, so yeah I don't exactly know much about game design, but what I do know is that Destiny 2 in it's current state is a terrible game, that screws over the lesser skilled/less fortunate people, and rewards those who are lucky and have been playing games and Destiny 2 their whole lives.

do you know what a paragraph is?
hence why SBMM is coming back

no amount of match making is going to fix that some players have all guns, all abilities - available to play from, and some dont.

sbmm is still far better then some connection based bs, its silly being put with players on the other side of the globe, some times as host sometimes not. It ruins more then just pvp aspect, but pve matches as well. Ie pending on your ping in the strike or match, physically limited in how you can play the match, playing at high ping, nope cant just rush across a void, because the game thinks you crashed in the wall when you didnt, and assumed you would have died etc. MM in this sense is the least of destiny 2's problems.
The thing with D2 crucible is to try and not take it that seriously. I had to do that too, which was very hard for me and still is, depending on my mood.

Yes the outrageously low TTK's are hard to fight against if you aren't a hardcore player with almost perfect aim, godlike reaction time and meta weaponry, but that's the nature of D2 PvP, you will always be outmatched by players with more time on their hands.

What also doesn't help PvP is the ancient Peer to Peer networking Bungie uses which makes playing competitively a joke. Speaking about jokes, let's not begin about the aim assist and bullet magnetism...

I admit I don't have fibre cabling, I still have gigabit copper cabling, but my ping is about 20 ms with every game I have played thus far, which is enough for all the games I have played...except D2.

For D2 it doesn't matter how good your internet is, you will get screwed over by the P2P networking of D2 which is out of our control.

Good matchmaking is out of the picture for now. Being matched unfairly is a given at this time, seeing as sbmm isn't here yet which will hopefully change PvP match-quality for the better.

To follow up to your opinion on how they should handle PvP performance, I agree. There are sites which display your average accuracy, average headshots which they should also take into account. Although I can't remember which site that was.

To end it off, this is coming from someone which never had the skill to go flawless, and I never got to reset my glory rank. I did help a friend of mine get his last few glory points to be able to get the Unbroken title. I do admit that I haven't played D2 PvP that much recently because of the matchmaking so do take that into account.

My thoughts. I've made some SERIOUS text walls in the past, but I know what a line break is. :P
