when are we going to admit that weapon crafting is bad for the game?
im getting burnt out so fast from this game i so desperately love because i gotta get 5 red border weapons (that have a chance of not dropping at all) then i gotta play for 10+ hours to level a gun that doesnt even have an artifact mod - it doesnt help that grinding nightmare containment is a literal snoozefest

And yes i know about the helm upgrades, it will speed up your process of acquiring red borders but not by much, i have to wait each week to be able to get new upgrades anyway - even then i have to prioritise which upgrades i have to get first for the most optimal red border collection strat, which is pretty annoying, Its just way too long of a process. Leveling your weapon is the worst part especially when bungie loves to shove champions down our throats, kinda only gives you a few options:

A: do the painful tried and true shuro chi strat where you just farm thrall until you get the roll you want :steambored:

B: use that weapon in EVERY SINGLE activity you do no matter if there is champions or not to get the activity completion xp until you get the roll you want (with the possibility of being THAT blueberry without champion mods) - which is also extremely boring because i dont like using the same gun all the time

C: just hope RNG blesses you with the roll you were going to craft

D: just log off and go play another game or go outside and feel the grass between your toes

idk this is just my angry/butthurt weapon leveling rant that will probably be seen by no one

kinda just playing this game for the love of the story at this point, the gameplay is getting worse and worse each season (im talking about you in air accuracy changes)

thanks for your time and i hope you have a good day/night where ever you are reading this from :luv:

That aside the FOMO is just so caked on and they keep reissuing gear, I dropped the game for the game that made me pick up D2 to begin with.

Going to be honest, I like weapon crafting... however the grind in order to actually use the feature is nothing short of horrible. First, items such as Austringer requiring you to get 5 different guns that HAVE Deepsight Resonance makes crafting practically useless. I mean, it's easier to get a nightfall weapon to drop than to take your chances with getting a 1/4 drop, and then that said drop having the Deepsight. So either you're going to spend hours grinding for the recipe to a single weapon, OR, having to wait 6-8 weeks unlocking via getting your deepsighted austringer at the COS. It wasn't until this week that you can unlock a 100% certain deepsight drop from an opulence engram.

Second, what do we have to gain from crafted weapons? By the time you have the recipe unlocked, you most likely have the roll you originally wanted. And it's a near fact that the enhanced versions of the perk do almost absolutely nothing. What's the point? So I can have 2-5 different rolls of the same gun? It's undeniable that most people are only looking for a single roll, so why would they waste materials and time just to unlock a roll they're not going to use?

Third, the variety of weapons. Roughly 80% of the weapons that you can craft are either trash, have bad rolls, or have absolutely no use outside of anti-champion mods. Really bungie? two different 450 auto rifles, 3 exotic glaives that I've only seen a player using once, Two bad pulse rifles, Bows that are useless since this is 3/5 seasons a SIDEARM has an artifact mod, and let's just mention how they could've done anything besides a trace rifle (RIP Divinity Users) for the 4th column mod. Personally, glaives are pretty dull weapon type outside of the melee function is has, however it's not too bad as a champion mod. How about we add some useful weapons into the crafting mechanic? Wouldn't that be crazy?

I just don't understand why the Baroque weapons require 5 deepsights just to unlock crafting for them. No point whatsoever.

On one hand, the current system sucks, on the other, no crafting at all is even worse.
Emurinus Jun 10, 2022 @ 11:49am
The crafting system intentionally takes time because it paves the way to guarantee your ideal god roll(s). Compare that to RNG which has no gaurantee to ever drop.

That said, the system could absolutely be better, especially where pattern acquisition is concerned.

perhaps we will see armor crafting next

The whole crafting experience is just needlessly complicated, it should have been tied to Banshee and the normal breaking down of guns for gunsmith materials instead of weird time based darkness psychic powers.
