Polaris Lance Catalyst

You guys at Bungie need to step your game up seriously. I got Polaris Lance as an Amazon Prime member reward recently and just recently got the catalyst for it. It requires 50 perfect fifth kills and defeating enemies with is to masterwork. I'm sure most people in the community know now that the burn effect from the 5th shot is what banks the kill.

Here's the problem, it's 2022 and the progress for it is bugged! This gun came out 4 F*&^ng years ago and I can't complete the catalyst because it's bugged now!? No matter how I approach it, killing cabal incinerators in the conflux sector in Nessus, shooting at the floor by the feet of the taken in the Last Wish Raid, or just at the Cosmodrome facing hive, the kill count won't budge! I'm getting really sick an tired of this $h1t. I know people say Polaris Lance sucks yaddah yaddah yaddah, but when you're given a challenge and Bungie is aware of the bugs, but won't do anything about it, how can you expect me to take your developers seriously with the amount of absolute brain dead nonsense you put your target players though? I didn't even want the damn exotic to begin with, but since it was free I thought "whatever". But now I regret having it and now I have an unfinished catalyst that will sit there collecting dust and will probably never get fixed until the day I stop playing Destiny all together.

IIRC, they need to die specifically to Perfect Fifth's burn damage, not the explosion itself.
Yes, it's obnoxious. Yes it should state it more clearly.

It could also just be completely broken, like so much else these days.

It is in fact bugged. because even burn damage isn't doing anything to progress my perfect 5th kill. So idk what else to think other than the inevitable conclusion that it's bugged

You'd probably get further with your post addressing Bungie if you posted it on the official D2 forums over at Bungie.net and not on a Steam user forum where no one from Bungie will ever see it.

i remember spending a couple of hours grinding this out in the leviathan entrance area with infinitely spawning enemies back @ D2 launch. unfortunately that was on my xbox account (:

i finished the cat at the start of the the garden raid about 2 seasons ago...once i killed all of the enemies go back to orbit and go back in rinse n repeat-took me maybe a half hour or so to complete it

It is a pain to do, but there are ways to make it less painful.

Head to an empty Altar of Sorrow location > Start the first wave > Charge the perfect fifth on lessor mobs > Hit a Knight with perfect fifth (allowing the burn to get the kill) > Rinse/ Repeat until Cata's done.

Had it done in about an hour or so total doing it this way.

That one was painful, there were a whole lot of kills I felt like should have counted but didn't. I ended up loading up the grasp of avarice dungeon and just sitting on top of the shack shooting the adds as they came out of the cave. I found if I shot the perfect fifth round into the wall next to them as they ran out past it, it would kill with the explosion and count *most* of the time. The problem is it has to kill with the actual blast/burn and not with the impact of the round to have any hope of counting and most of the time I was killing them with the impact if I shot them directly.
