How to play solo?
Hello, guys. I'd like to know how can I play this game solo? Not seeing other players running around the maps and hogging my targets would make this game so much better. I find it impossible that such a huge and famous game like Destiny wouldn't provide us with such a simple on-off adjustment option like this. Thanks in advane.

It's not a solo game. You can play a lot of the content without a fireteam, and for a lot of the content you'll be instanced off and alone, but you can't play Destiny 2 without seeing other players at least some of the time.

This is distinctly untrue.

I'll say 90% of all other online games OFFER an option of being solo. This is the type of inclusion experience all modern games should already be adapted to. Destiny is behind if it's not adapted to newer generations.

^You're trying to pass your personal preference off as some kind of global standard, but the majority of the largest games in the world right now are built around online multiplayer. So, I'd say the "newer generations" prefer that.

Either way, you can't play Destiny 2 without seeing other players some of the time. If you don't want to play the game, that's fine. Not all games need to be designed for all people. It sounds like you've got plenty of other options for you.

Division and Division 2 does.....you see them in safe houses, but everywhere else outside of the Dark Zones are entirely player free....want to see others? group with them, if not....stick to solo.

I am honestly getting sick of group content anyway, ever since they made Primary Ammo be infinite (not sure where you have the ammo stored) all players just spray and pray....endlessly, its pretty annoying when i use a powered melee, which buffs everyone with Radiant buff (25% damage boost) for 10 seconds, but i guess they prefer to just spam endlessly....such dullsville.

They really should put back Primary ammo to being like Special and Heavy....Finite.

Most of us Play solo unless we have to do raids/dungeons/special stuff, most of the game is match make except what isn't we have to do. TBH I only LFG if its for like legendary misson 100k/NF 100k/ dungeons this where I have to get stuff timely done or alot quicker.

But the game is alot funnier with friends and semi quicker to do things vs a bunch match made "blue berries". Blue berries have a tendency to mess up or speed rush things in match making stuff. Its hoping that a rando brings proper mods for heroic NF or above, most of time they don't.

Outside of certain activities or high end content, you'll generally either be matchmade into activities or spawn in public servers. There's most likely a way to get solo instances, though idk any for PC in particular.

I'm quite sure that isn't true either, like not even close. Not even *seeing* other players? Pretty sure that is impossible for virtually every MMO in existence. Some of them have the ability to do group content solo, like FF14 actually just added bots to base game dungeons, but in the open world? I think whatever sample size you are using is terrible.

Division did it. Path of Exile did it. Many other MMOs that have phasing of some sort for the locations/quests/etc do it. I think whatever sample size you are using is terrible.

^And Destiny 2 also has instancing in quite a few areas and nearly all story content. Public areas, however, are designed to be public. The fact that the Division has more instancing doesn't mean Destiny 2 is supposed to as well.

And again, look at the top games on Steam; they're almost all multiplayer games which you can't play without seeing other players.

Just go into lost sectors, you will be all alone unless you have a fire team.
Patrol zones are not private.

so weird to bring up a game that has story content that can be solo just like D2 but has no endgame worth playing and even then its with others still??? Divisions 1 and 2 are dead sadly

You need other players in D2 for some of the good content. Although, you can stay solo and be queued with others in some instances, but when it comes to raids for instance, you will need a group. Completing some of these (most) are near impossible, especially for the average player.

Exclusively play story missions. That's what I did.

This is the silliest post I have come across in a while. Destiny is an MMO. The genre is defined by being multiplayer.

no it is not, bungie themself said that destiny is not an mmo, it is a looter shooter fps at best.

thats what they said about ppl calling destiny an mmo-

"You'll embody a character that evolves on that journey. Unlike an MMO, the entire experience is built around heart-pounding action that you'll see through the eyes of your hero," Bungie went on. "Ultimately, we're looking forward to knowing how you describe Destiny, once you've played it."
