All campaigns prior to Shadowkeep have been vaulted (removed, basically). Thus Red War is gone, Curse of Osiris (and Mercury) is gone, and Forsaken is gone with the exception of the Dreaming City which is still around.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The Red War, The Curse of Osiris, and Warmind (along with the associated destinations in most cases) were vaulted at the start of Beyond Light (which was, functionally, the start of Destiny 3).

The campaign from Forsaken has also been vaulted, although much of that expansion remains extant.

Bungie has provided considerable documentation on what they did, and why. I strongly suggest reading it (rather than listening to rumor and hearsay).

And this is why I never even started on this game in the first place, still a smart decision. This is the only game where content you had paid for has been removed permanently from your access and frankly, there's no reason to think they wont do it again and again. No way to experience the chronological story, it just "begins ..." somewhere.

You are incorrect. Both WoW and FFXIV have removed major chunks of content as well. And all games use the same sort of EULA which grants you an access license, rather than outright ownership.

Yes, it would be nice to have the older content accessible. But it's better to consistently have new content available. If you want a C-RPG or an MMORPG then go play those. This is an ARPG. At its core the game is: Kill stuff, get cool loot, kill tougher stuff, repeat.

Yea they may have removed some stuff here and there in those games but you can still go back and get the experience at least do some quest get some lore but for d2 they just make you go online if you want the story if you are just joining and the whole game is no shoot get stuff repeat if it was it would have a way bigger population but alot of people play it for the story then are done because they dont want to pay 70$+ for a extra dungeon or 3 guns that is not worth it even on sale

The campaigns from Year one and Forsaken were removed, and several Y1 locations were vaulted.

Nakos already provided the explanation but I'll just give an abridged version:

Bungie created the vault for three main reasons: To drive the overall story forward, to remove/fix old code that have been causing too many problems, and to address general performance issues. It's by no means a perfect solution, but it was what they considered the best idea or best outcome at the time.

Why do they keep vaulting content? I don't wanna buy a expansion if they're just gonna vault the content
Hi there!

As this topic has been discussed in great lengths among a number of threads and have always gone into personal attacks, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread.

For more information regarding the Destiny Content Vault, as well as a very detailed blog article behind its creation, please review the below help article.
