Never throw away your highest item of each type because they'll help you get better items, even if you aren't using them actively.
while you are leveling, visit Ada and Banshee in the tower each day after reset and buy up any mods you don't have yet from them. also check the exotic kiosk in the tower and as you gain materials to do so, purchase any exotic weapons you don't have. on Fridays, find out Xur's location for the weekend and visit him and purchase his exotic engram. it will guarantee an exotic weapon that is part of the world loot pool that you don't already have, plus he sells one piece of exotic armor for each glass as well as hawk moon and deadman's tail and a selection of Legendary weapons and an armor set for each class. This weekend, Xur can be found at the Tower in the Hangar area.
you will level easily from anything from 1350 to 1560. After that, you will need to start focusing on activities that drop powerful rewards and up to actually gain any level from gear and then at 1570, focus on activities that give pinnacles. you don't need to worry about getting all the way to 1580 though (pinnacle cap for the season though). Once you get to 1560, you should be good for the majority of activities outside of Grandmaster Nightfalls and Master level Dungeons/Raids. Plus you will get bonus power levels by ranking up the seasonal artifact. Do as many of the weekly challenges that you can do and also bounties from destinations to get the XP for leveling up the artifact.
The Legendary Witch Queen campaign will cap you at 1530 no matter what your power level actually is. If you still struggle with solo'ing it, you can also use LFG without needing comms. The difficulty will actually increase the more people you have in your fireteam and revives are limited during combat encounters, but it should still make it less arduous than solo.
For LFG, go to Bungies website or download the Destiny 2 app on your phone/tablet.
Aside from that? Any activity will level you, but powerful gear ones are the best.
I will seek out Xul to see what I can get from him and at this point I guess its only a matter of time until I get a large collection of mods, armors and weapons. I was slightly fearful that I won't be able to rush to endgame content but I guess there's no way around it :D Thanks for the tips, time to hit the grind wheel.
If you need a Clan thats about "Real Life 1st", then look my clan up. "Killa-Klownz" - I brought my clan from another game at which we played since 2007 til last year. I started here in Destiny 2 with my son and a few friends and we are not a large clan (30ish members), but we are learning the game and playing as much as we can.
