Why am I stuck at 1320?

I started this week at power level 1320.
I then played two days, several hours each, completing several missions including 3 quests that grant pinnacle gear and still got drops of 1317-1320.
I had been moving up steadily till I hit this wall. Any clues?

If you're making slow progress, it could be like, some of your gear is 1,316, some at 1,323, and it's picking the slot with the lowest when awarding the pinnacle and picking the highest when giving powerfuls. If you're only doing +1 pinnacle activites (are you?) then it's going to be excruciatingly slow anyway since you need perfect distribution, a drop in every slot before anything has a chance to drop higher.

Do Vault of Glass. 5 +2 pinnacles a week per class, with the weapons contributing across all characters.

From here on out the only way you get higher light level gear is from pinnacle drops, powerful drops will now only drop at your average light level.

How this works is, once you are 1320 pinnacle engrams will drop up to 1330. However anything thats a powerful will drop at your average light level. SO lets say you get enough pinnacle gear where your average light level is now 1324, a powerful engram will dorp 1324.

Pinnacles always drop higher than your level unless you're at hard cap. The slot is random too. Gear score is an average level of 8 items, so make sure none of your gear is too far below the rest.

Is 1320 your gear score or gear+artifact? Artifact has no effect on gear drops

Some players are having probs with pinnacles rewarding higher lvl gear, I was one of them.
Limiting my fps to below 100 fixed it. Bungie does not have a clue about it, thats my take.

I think this because I had been getting good pinnacle drops, but not this week.

What is the hard cap and soft cap?
My Power level is 1320
My gear totals = 1320 x3 / 1321 x4 / 1322 x1
And still I cant get any drops above 1320 this week, including pinnacle.

There used to be a bug with some pinnacles not granting higher level gear, but it usually happens for all players, so there're enough reports. Most active players reached 1330 a long time ago, so they can't encounter it anymore.

Hard cap is the maximum gear score you can obtain, also refered as pinnacle cap. This season it's 1330.
Powerful cap starts at 1320, at this point powerful rewards start dropping at your level and the only way to progress is to get pinnacles at +1 or +2.
Soft cap - 1270, you can upgrade your gear score by getting powerful and pinnacle rewards only.

Pretty well sucks to play for a week and not be able to move up my power level.
Not fun.

Pinnacle gear only counts your base gear score, so if you were, let's say, 1322 base and 1326 on your artifact, then you're only going to get 1323 or 1324 pinnacle drops. Of course, it helps if they drop in different slots too, which is always "fun."

I have vivid memories of my pinnacles just dropping in the same slot repeatedly, specifically from Iron Banana.

How is it many players I see are 1350 - 1370?
How long will this continue?
I'm a casual player and if I spend a week playing and not go up ONE POWER LEVEL then I will go play something else.

They are so high cause of the artifact power bonus, if they're like season lvl 900, they got alot of light lvl+ from the artifact.
Don't be so concerned about that, you most likely won't need it anyways, beside if ur a grindlord and wanna do 1350 grandmasters.. Which imo is not really worth the time if u aren't sweating.
