Cannot access proving grounds strike for Dawning
Apparently you need to finish a quest called challenger arises to unlock the proving ground. I cannot find this quest anywhere. Where do I pick it up to continue with the quest?

Challenger's Proving is a Season of the Chosen quest so you'd need season 13 access - but this is only needed to launch it directly from the Nessus map.
All strikes are available randomly through the strike playlist, even the DLC ones.

Oh thank goodness. I was worried I was locked out due to not having previous seasons. So with a little luck, I can still finish this. Thank you.
