Best handcannon?
I've been looking to get a handcannon, but I can't decide what ones better. But I've heard a lot of people suggest bottom dollar.

I'm assuming you mean for PvP?

120's arent as good as they were a few seasons ago. You can still make them work on longer range maps, but typically you'll want to stick to 140's. Adept Fatebringer or Palindrome are probably the "best" currently.

The new omolon one that drops from crucible is also pretty good. Has a lot of generally good rolls. Cantata is another one that people are hyping up, but thats a world drop so good luck getting that.

I'd check out Light.gg and just look thru all the 140 handcannons. See what ones have some perks you'd like.

Two great* handcannons for PvP and PvE are palindrome and fatebringer. Palindrome can get things like one-for-all, overflow (PvE), killing wind, rangefinder, quickdraw (PvP).. Fatebringer can get firefly (PvE), explosive payload, kill clip, adrenaline junkie, and killing wind (these last 4 are good in both PvP and PvE)

I am very sad that, when I was grinding for Pali a month or two ago I was hyper focused on getting a good PvP drop that I didn't realize I got a really good PvE one, it had overflow and one-for-all. very sad ;( Altho I did get that same roll on an igneous hammer, so thats pretty good :D

Still loving my killing wind, kill clip fatebringer

palia adpet, fate timelost and eyasluna are good even the new crisis, and especially Cantata because it can run with eye of the storm with either timed payload, opening shot or even range finder. Even Vorpal too if you care for that. but yes I would personally grind for good roll Cantata because fatebringer is resetting today and won't be back until rotation.

Now if you want exotic hand cannons you can go for 3 of these. Ace of spades, Hawkmoon and Thorn. Both of Ace and Thorn can be bought from the tower kiosk and hawkmoon can be obtained from Xur every rotation weekly on his 2nd page along with dmt=deadmans tale each week bringing different roles from last weeks.

I really like eriana's vow

Eriana's vow isn't bad in terms of range and impact but if you're looking for a hand cannon without special ammo I would recommenced the ones I listed off.

Anyone that says anything different than Palindrome are biased. Palindrome is the best handcannon in the game and its not even close. Best stats and has both S tier PvE rolls and PvP rolls.

Adept Palindrome is the best for PvP, its not really a subject for debate. Its 37m before damage drop off occurs while maintaining a optimal ttk at 39m, to put this in perspective No Time to Explain an exotic pule rifle that is considered a top tier pick for pvp is 40m before damage drop off occurs. This means you can duel/engage with pulse rifles and some scout rifles which are considered long range weapons.

However obtaining adept palindrome is another story, its a Grand Master reward and your looking for a very targeted roll. Small bore, ricochet rounds, quick draw, range finder, range master work. These perks in tandem give it more range, stability, handling then any other hand cannon in the game currently.

Their are 2 other options that are more obtainable & have more ease of use because they have higher base aim assist. Time Lost Fatebringer & Eyas Luna.
~Time lost fate bringer has a lower ceiling before damage drop off but can still remain lethal at 34-35m of range via the explosive payload perk, this is because explosive damage is not subject to damage drop off. Source: Master Vault of Glass, raid.
~Eyas Luna has a higher ceiling before range drop off then Time Lost Fatebringer via the range finder perk as well as the highest aim assist of all non-sunset handcannons in the game(it can obtain 100 aim assist). Source: Grasp of Avarice, dungeon.

For PvE Time Lost Fatebringer with explosive payload and frenzy is hands down the best with no competition like how adept palindrome is the uncontested champion of PvP handcannons.

Hope that helps and good luck out their guardian.

what i've been trying to figure out is why do people love quickdraw on hand cannons so much? besides just being a followup weapon if the sniper hits a body shot or to finish off after a bow hit; after the quickdraw nerf shouldnt there be better options now? I've had 3 adept palindromes that I've held onto: 1) hammer forged+armor piercing+quickdraw+rangefinder, 2) full bore+ricochet rounds+killing wind+rangefinder, 3) full bore+ricochet rounds+killing wind+rampage. I've used the other two but I go back to using the rampage one, especially when quickdraw stopped increasing ads speed
