Witch queen performance issues (fps drops)
I’m not one to really complain about performance issues especially when talking about destiny 2. But since witch queen launched I’ve been experiencing major frame drops periodically while playing. I have an rtx 3080, and a i9 10900k with 64gb of ram. I know it’s not a hardware issue. And I’ve never had any performance issues before witch queen. (Excepted when beyond light first launch)

thinking the game has a memory leak issue now. it seems whenever you play for longer you get really bad stutter and fps drops especially in the throne world.

Sorry can't help you really, but can confirm that the buddy I was playing with today has about same setup as you and couldn't get more than 20fps on throne world before eventually the game just crashing to desktop. Yet my system with 1070 16gb and ryzen7 is completely fine. Bungie made a tweet as a response to the slew of issues atm. Hopefully something or someone gets you on track.

In case you haven't already, check drivers, verify integrity, turn off overlay, minimize background tasks, and/or restart pc - just a thought to help a fellow guardian. Good luck.

Thank you for the tips! Unfortunately still having issues. Guess I’ll wait see if bungie will fix it.

Yup, that’s exactly what’s happening to me. I wonder if bungie is aware of this issue.

I do have the same issue on my 3050.
Several new installations for the gpu drivers and multiple restarts
I also changed some stuff in Nvidia Settings and it did not help.

For me the stuttering happens when playing pvp or opening my inventory.

these fps drops in certain UI screens are known issue so example inspect character etc.

Getting FPS Drop's in the Menu system and during gameplay.

Even G-Sync is not helping.

Running at 2560x1440 mixed settings but dropping down to 20fps and below at times.

Seems the game is also performing worse than before with Frame Rates being lower in places that it was before.

I am just about to put the Windows Game Bar thing on where it shows GPU/CPU usage in game over the game kind of like MSI Afterburner would, if Bungie allowed it but since they said that it allows cheats to work etc we cannot have that, but have cheats :( so they might as well allow the overlay.

i get like rly huge fps drops whenever open character tab to change my weapons. in crucible for example, when i die and quickly open it to swap weapons . fps drops to 20-50 ish and after couple seconds goes back to 200

Done all of the known common fixes, nothing really helps but capping my fps to half my monitors refresh (70fps), it doesn't stop the UI from lagging and overall smoothness of frames is still not ideal. Hopefully Bungie knows of this and is fixing it.

So far nothing for me. 3080 ftw3 locked at 144 at 1440p. 64gb ram and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 8700 non k lol

Weird, I have an older 2080 and I have no issues. Only "lag" is when loading inventory / character screen.

I also have an old laptop with a 980M, the game now runs better than before... go figure ?

I had some luck with fiddling around witha combination of ingame settings, Geforce Experience, and NVIDIA Control Pannel.

Look at https://errorfixer.co/destiny-2-fix-lag-fps-drops/ <<- this page, for more help ^^

I have only noticed frame rate drops in The Birthplace of Vile strike in the Throne World and only in certain scenes or rooms. Prime example is the final boss room. I can go on one side of the room (left if you are facing the boss's spawn point) and FPS is good, roughly around 138 fps. But as soon as I go to the other side of the room, my FPS drops to below 30 fps. The room is identical on both left and right sides. Outside of that, I've had no frame rate issues in the Throne World.

i7 9770k
32gb ram
Evga 1070 TI FTW (x2) in SLI (not that this matters as D2 doesn't take advantage of SLI)
Running D2 in Windowed Fullscreen @1920x1080 on a HP Omen 25f monitor.

UPDATE: Swapped out my two 1070 TIs for a Evga 3080 TI FTW3 - No frame rate drops in The Birthplace of Vile now, even with highest settings turned on.
