I've given up grinding for the weapons. Well over 100 runs and I haven't fully unlocked a single one.

It does in fact drop exotic glaive patterns.
However, you need to unlock the first exotic glaive through the quest chain,
then further exotic glaive patterns (the other 2) can drop from the activity (rare chance).
