PS5 controller not working

Ive been playing with a new xbox controller but like the feel of the PS5 controller better. The PS5 controller works seamlessly with games like outer world, RDR2, Apex legends and others but will not work with Destiny 2. Steam recognizes the controller, I have tried community load outs but when launching D2 there is no controller functions. I have a slight disability that wont allow me to properly use keyboard and mouse so controller is best way to enjoy gaming. any ideas ?

no i dont, i didnt think i would need a program since other games run fine with that controller. i'll look up what that is and try it. thank you

This is what I do for my PS4, PS5, and Xbox controllers.

1. Steam
   
2. Settings
   
3. Controller
   
4. General Controller Settings
   
5. Checkmark Generic Gamepad Configuration Support, uncheck all other supports.
   
6. If Destiny 2 is open, restart it for configuration to apply

The only issue/advantage of generic gamepad is you can play the game with the window not in focus, which can be a problem if you are trying to play something else with Destiny 2 open in the background.

I will try this, i had tried with gamepad selected but didnt uncheck the playstation or xbox supports. thank you for the advice.

this is what i found out by trial and error i think but i havent had any issues since i made sure to put this into practice. most games you can start up and then turn on your controller and it works but destiny for some unexplained bungie reasoning wont recognize the controller if you turn it on after the game boots up so i make sure to have controller turned on before booting up destiny. I hope this makes sense...its weird i know but i havent had any issues. like i said 99.9999% of games will recognize controller if you boot up game then turn it on but not bungle. at least in my situation.

i have needed to do that before with a couple games but even then it doesnt seem to work when i try that with D2
